The Death Of Democracy?

Given the level of detail that is known about that scandal, I am curious - and afraid - to ask what the next level of detail below that would be that the media was hiding from us.
In that case, those who sat on the info eventually covered
it...but only after newer & more aggressive media did.
I think we got all the salient details, eg, cigars, the human
humidor, & presidue on the blue dress.

Could you offer some specifics and the evidence for them?
Not without more research than I'm willing to do today.

But let's consider a why of our having more info today....
As I said, news purveyors of the prior age were all more vulnerable to government control.
They had frequencies to buy from government, regulation of programming, identities
known to government, & capital investment which could be lost. Nowadays, government
still tries to thwart efforts to disseminate info, but Wikileaks & others still survive. And they
do work which was more difficult or even impossible back in the day. No one could claim
that this hasn't broadened our access to info which embarrasses government.

Or the best pizza topics or some similar let's-change-the-topic-topic. No thanks.
Change the topic?
Nothing is more on-topic than considering the effects
of news media changing because of the internet.

Perhaps I just didn't give you any ammunition for quibbling?
Yeah...that's it.

Note:
Don't blame me for the "tude"...I'm just play'n along.
