That's a little desperate.
It's consistent with their beliefs about the effect of baptism (and about the effects of sacraments in general).

Edit: the short (oversimplified?) version is that they believe that through baptism, God makes a person a Christian, so the person making themselves "not Christian" later would imply that a human had thwarted the will of God.
