The Baron's Liquor

Baron Blackjack is the god of casinos, gambling, and prostitutes, but liquor is usually associated with his wife who grants it to those she likes to give them good luck. In a dream the other night, the Baron gave me a drink that tasted like pine, and before he has given me cigarettes that felt very satisfying even in the dream world. Last night I drank and drank dream liquor until I dreamt about being hungover and having lots of water to cleanse that. The effect of the Baron’s liquor given to you in dreams is strong enough that you may wake up feeling disoriented, with dry mouth, or with a buzz that is not easily replicated with liquor of the physical world. Astral liquor given by the Baron is considered one of his blessings, and it can be taken as proof that you are gaining affinity with him.

Liquor of the dream world is taken by the astral self, and this dream liquor should not provide you with the same negative effects on your physical body as physical liquor would have on your physical body. This is good for satisfying any craving you have of these substances in the astral planes, while not needing to ever indulge in unhealthy habits in ways that would damage your physical body.

Take astral liquor and cigarettes in the astral planes to increase your spirituality here. This works because when your soul is experiencing all of these things, it is easier to connect to spirituality and you will feel your spiritual self be more present in the world. Do not worry about any bad effects from astral substances. Even if you are on medications in the physical world or have a medical condition, they will not interact with any substances you take in your dreams.

It is possible to take hard drugs or cannabis in the astral planes as well, but those are associated with The Flowermaker who is the god of addictions, drugs, flowers, and LGBT. That’s a different deity and the experience is not related to the Baron.

Is the Baron an Orisha? Like Baron Samedi?

No, it is a new religious movement.

Could you share some links on it? I've tried looking it up, but don't find much.

Actually, all I found on it was stuff you'd written about it(on other sites).

(Not saying that's a bad thing, just stating.)

I am the person who started the movement so it's just the Reddit, Lemmygrad, and Facebook for now. However there are some presentations I have to explain our belief system and other things.

My question for you is, why appropriate terms from other religions? This is something that happens a lot, obviously, but as a modern person who is aware of the dangers of perverting the terminology of other religions and cultures, why do you use the word "kami" in this new tradition?

I wish you luck. Shinto leaders tend to be very aggressive towards sect Shinto and anything similar. I recommend avoiding speaking of this "Kamichakra" in Shinto spaces if you ever get the chance to visit.

Lavenderism is actually not meant to be a sect of shinto or to have much overlap but because the term "Kami" is used for more than exactly gods it seems to be the best thing to use without worrying about semantics, but even despite that I still tend to say the gods in casual use reserving the term kami for actually praying. If there was any other word that was as flexible I would probably use that instead. The New Age movement inspired a lot of this so a lot so the same people who dislike New Age ideology tend to also dislike Lavenderism.

Ironically people tend to confuse me as Buddhist more often than Shinto. So often I get people asking me "You're not Buddhist?" which is extremely ironic but I make sure to distance our practice from anything that a westerner might confuse it for. I've attempted converting to other more simple faiths but I was not allowed, since this is my path.

Yet the Subreddit is covered with Japanese paraphernalia (among other Asian cultures) and you bring up thinking you were Asian in a past live in another thread.

"Kami" is no more or less vague than "spirit" and arguably "god" too. Why not use those words?

And of course people associate Shinto with Buddhism. They've been inexorably intertwined for a long time.

Our subreddit is not covered with Asian things just to look Asian. The joss paper money is burned for ancestors to have offerings, the lucky kitten for us is worshipped as the goddess Shiawase-No-Kami, and the lanterns represent festivals that we see as holidays. These things are meaningful to us and they have connections to the gods. I think if you took a second to scroll through this website you would see that our practice is unique in many ways and does not even resemble anything in Asia not even folk practices, unless you count Junji Ito's writings which have made their way into our mythology or Teru Teru Bozu. We talk about the significance of Yasakani-no-magatama and some other things, but it's barely anything compared to the other stuff.

Also the whole thing about being Japanese in the past life is not used for me to claim like "I'm Japanese" or whatever and I am well aware that Japan is not a utopia or even somewhere I'd want to live. You seem to have jumped to the conclusion that I am a weaboo in that other thread which is ironic, because that's not even the place I would choose to live if I had the chance.
