But it does matter if your willful ignorance leads to foolish decisions.

“our government is under attack from within” while comparing the coronavirus to “the impeachment hoax” and arguing that those who take the current pandemic seriously “panic like sheep.”
"Sehlke wrote in part:
Wake up!!! This is what the beginning of socialism looks like!
They are leading with fear causing you to panic like sheep.
You don’t need hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and Lysol. You need common sense, a sense of direction, faith, a will to fight, and of course guns!
Now wash your hands and live the life they don’t want you to have!

Quite sad that she didn't accept the facts while she could protect herself. May she rest in peace, in any case. I hope her family and friends are coping well; losing someone on top of everything else that's been happening has got to be pretty rough.

You obviously have a much higher chance of contracting a disease if you don't take preventive measures. So yes, it does matter if one choose to be rational and responsible or not.

I like how she said faith and guns. Someone stockpiling weapons doesn't sound like someone with a lot of faith.
Trump encouraged people to not take the matter seriously. This woman believed him. I presume she took few or no precautions, contracted the virus, spread it to anybody she came in contact with (presumably) people like herself who foolishly trusted a reckless, scientifically illiterate president, accelerated the timing and magnitude of Texas' problem, then died.

He says whatever he wants people to believe in service of himself. You should know by now that he can't be believed or trusted. He's not interested in your family's well-being. He's incapable of it.

Our state is keeping lockdown until June 10th, longer than most other states. There must be a reason... Republican Polls close June 9th.
Yup, our governor sooooo concerned about our safety. Not at all concerned about ILLEGALLY (see 1st Amendment right to peacefully assemble) shutting down voting polls.

And while it's still spreading despite lockdown, businesses are tanking. The problem is, most of the people I tell this to are psychopaths who are like "Good this means Trump economy is collapsing." No, not good *******. The fast food joint you want to go to is struggling and will close soon. Liberals are supposedly patrons of the arts but operas and studios and concerts are struggling. No more more blockbusters, your favorite actors are all suffering. And you've just agreed it's okay to be a douche to everyone in your city and the neighboring towns so the economy will be collapsed ruining people's lives. And it will trickle back to you when nobody decides to donate to forums like this one. It'll trickle back to you if you're a startup in Cali or food blogger (or others of these BS online jobs) and everyone else is unemployed but you seem to be doing fine... until you notice your customers are using PayPal or Patreon less and less. It'll trickle back to you if you are managing to do well anyway, and people notice your success, and come to your house with pitchforks.
Do me a favor, and care a bit about these ppl out of work. Write to your governor and tell him to open things up. Tell him that our rights are not okay to be suspended like this. That our jobs are essential. Without them, we can't live.

The virus is going to indiscriminately kill anyone who's infected and at risk.
The hell it doesn't, and to suggest otherwise is itself irresponsibly ignorant.
No doubt you'll be offering your sincere condolences to the many who will die as a consequence.

I would wager most politicians are opportunist and will do things like this to keep the advantage for themselves.
That's not the plan, just the likely unrealistic hope. The plan is to reduce exposure to infected people as well and for as long as possible in the hope of either not getting the disease, the hope of an effective vaccine arriving, the hope of effective treatment if and when the disease is contracted, and the hope of a health care system no longer in crisis if that happens and hospitalization and mechanical ventilation become necessary.
That sounds political.
That sounds wrong, especially considering the success of other nations like New Zealand using early, aggressive lockdowns. We have good evidence that social isolation is effective in flattening the curve.
Watch what's about to happen in the American South, where state lockdowns came very late, and where there is greater trust of Republicans (governors and Trump). Those people are doing what you suggest. Let's see how that works out for them.

You pick some amazing things to be concerned about. I donated to RF without making physical contact with anybody. You can as well.
I understand that, but you can't expect people to put themselves and their neighbors at risk for death to protect jobs.
Besides, the economy will tank whatever you do.
Actually, we are buying just about as much as always (less gasoline), but we're not leaving the house. It costs less to eat and drink at home, but we're not consuming less, just paying less. And our food all comes from Costco now, since we have a delivery service available. With restaurant deliveries, you need to have more people coming to your home more often.
