I just watched this movie last night and found it absolutely phenomenal. I don't recall the last time a sequel improved from the original so thoroughly and noticeably.

The practical effects are amazing, the action never lets up enough to become boring, the pace is just right, and the acting from the protagonist and antagonist is stellar. It has no social commentary (nothing wrong with having that, but some movies are better off focusing on the action only), no attempts to be clever, and no unnecessary or tedious sequences. It's pure, undistilled slasher action.

I think this may be my favorite slasher since 1996's Scream. It's definitely not for those who can't stomach gore, though. It's extremely violent, to the point of being comically so at a few points.

Have you seen this movie yet?

I didn't get "slashed" but was violently
attacked and badly injured, so I don't
see entrrtainment value in such.

What I don't understand is why / how
anyone can watch such things.

I like the ones that are exaggerated and removed enough from reality to be a form of escapism for me. Horror movies fascinate me because of their unique atmosphere, generally. A supernatural killer clown propped up by another supernatural entity makes for an interesting movie premise.

I don't enjoy realistic stories or depictions of extreme violence, though. That's why I'm avoiding the Dahmer series on Netflix.

Different minds feed off different things.
I suspect most people don't even really know exactly why they are drawn to one form of entertainment over another.

Some people enjoy the thrill. It's a lot like why people ride rollercoasters. I get a release from watching horror movies, especially the better ones.

Haven't yet. I'll watch it tonight. I liked the first. Artie is an awesome creepy clown. :p

I haven't seen it yet but I definitely want to as I loved the first one. It isn't currently available on any of the streaming services I have (in the UK at least. What is and isn't available seems to vary by country) so I'll probably hold out until it is. I'm too absorbed in Rimworld to watch much TV at the moment anyway.

I watched it tonight. It was far better than the original in terms of the story, acting and characters. I actually cared about the protagonists this time, as opposed to the first one where they were just grating stock cliches you almost want to just die, and stupid to boot. The story is really interesting now and I look forward to see where it goes from here. The gore was just as nauseating and pornographic as the first, imo, but it's more jarring this time combined with the drama of the other scenes. It is an exploitation film so you have to expect to be revolted there.

I watched 3 horror films tonight. This was good, but Climax by Gaspar Noe affected me much more intensely. That's a totally different sort of horror movie, though.
