A man in a ski mask entered a taqueria and proceeded to rob diners brandishing what appears to be a gun. One of the customers then pulled out his own gun, shot and killed the robber. The man then returned the money the robber had taken to other diners. The man and the other customers left before police arrived. This happened in Houston.

My point was leaving the scene is a crime.
Staying to face possible prosecution has its risks too.
A friend claimed to have shot a guy who entered his
truck to rob him. He pushed the body out, & just left.
He was advised by a cop friend to not report it.

I'm not advocating anything illegal, nonetheless,
one should realize that no good goes unpunished.

Difference is the fella in the OP has many witness's and more than likely is on video.

Houston is one of my home cities, and Texas, one of my home states. What an honor it is to share it with people like this.

The man in the ski mask thought he could rob a Texas restaurant and its customers with a toy gun. He f’d around and found out.
It looked real enough to warrant a real, lethal response. Maybe he thought he was robbing California, or Portland, Oregon. Maybe not. Either way he’s dead now and the world is better off.

He is on video. There is a clear shot of his face and another of his truck. He is going to be recognized and someone will turn him in.

I can understand why he left. The legal problems for doing what he did can be huge. It looks like a valid use of force to me, but I am not an expert.
