How did you decide on your username? And what exactly is the Sum of Awe?
Back in school we had apple computers, and there was a program called Thawspace on the main screen at all times. Some people would rename it "Space of Thaw" out of boredom and I'd see it from time to time. So I was thinking of a clever way to rearrange "Awesome" and came up with "The Sum of Awe"

Hmm, never thought about it before. I tend to say "Bro" a lot though :p

if you had to learn a foreign language what would it be?

I'd learn French. It is said to be easy to learn and it sounds neat!

blonde, brunette, red, or don't care?
I'm not picky but I fall for blondes super easy :D

OK.
  1. What do you think of Trump?
  2. Did you vote for any of these folks?
  3. What about Grassley or Ernst?
I’m not very politically informed so bare with me…

I skimmed the article. I don’t really know if the 2020 election was rigged, it seems unlikely though I feel like there’d be some way to secure things of that importance, and it’s likely mass paranoia created by Trump.

All I know is that Iowa is one of the cheapest cost of living states in the US. I don’t know if Grassley is to be credited for that or not, but I hope that whoever is senate next that that doesn’t change

Its because nobody wants to live here. :D

That statement isn't simply a joke; I subscribe to a local paper, and there's an article every week or two about studies being done to see why Iowa is losing population so rapidly.

Personally, I don't think it takes a task force to figure that out, but....

Has inflation not been as bad in the rural areas? I know there's a lot of struggle to retain people in small towns, so I could see that inflation might be affected differently. If I recall right, you're in a small town in the northern part...

The prices in my urban area have sure gone up.

I wonder why people don't want to live here. There's no mountains or anything but the scenery is quite nice in some areas. It's like the perfect blend of the tranquility of western states and the city-life of eastern states.

Prices have gone up in rural areas; food, gas, housing, rent... I think inflation was omnipresent all over the country, so really the cost of living price still is less than in other parts of the country.

I know rent can be cheaper by several hundred in a rural area as opposed to urban, but I'm sure its all gone up. The low price is typically offset by the commute prices, as its harder to find a place to work in small towns. Do you have a long commute, or are you able to work nearby?

I'm glad you enjoy it. :D I struggle with the seas of corn. Its not because its seas of corn; corn is cool. Its the fact its all for ethanol or cattle... Only a very small potion is fit for people to eat.

As a nature-nut vegetarian, its just not something I can connect with. Some people don't mind.

Were you born in Iowa?

I have about a 20-25 minute drive to work. It could be worse. All of my past jobs I've driven 30-40 minutes.

I had no idea! There's so much corn, that blows my mind!

Were you born in Iowa?
Yes, I've been here all of my life

Yeah, that could be worse. 20 minutes isn't ideal, but its not terrible, especially not in small town Iowa.

It blew my mind when I learned that, too. In some ways, I wish I hadn't found out, because now it bothers me a lot, but there isn't much I can do about it.

If you could move, would you? Whether within Iowa, another country, or just down the block?

I recently bought a house here, and I'm pretty happy with the purchase. It's a simple house; three bedrooms (one's small, one's medium, the other is a little bigger than medium) without a basement and it's one story. But it's got everything I need and it was worth the price.

I care less about the location, I've lived in a beautiful area before but it was too quiet of a town (other than that it was my favorite place to live -- Guttenberg) and I could've moved to a larger city but it would be too scary and un-affordable for me, plus I'd have to have found a different job. I care more about convenience and I feel like where I live now is the most convenient for my needs (Charles City)
