Suggestions for a Nice Drink

I'm looking to get myself a good drink soon to celebrate something with a friend. She likes almost everything under the sun, and I'm mostly the same provided it's not something extreme like 96% vodka. :D

Both of us also dislike wine, so that's a no-go.

What would you suggest here? Budget is a max of $50-$60. If there's a good reason to go up to around $100, we could do that too.

Note: I love vodka cocktails. Tequila is, like wine, also kind of a no-go because it makes me nauseous.

How soon we talking? Homemade limoncello is probably my favorite alcoholic drink. Served with a little honey and a sprig of rosemary to stir it with.

An old friend of mine used to request a whiskey sour every evening with his 'dinner'.

Sadly, he couldn't eat or drink anymore(and was tube fed), but that didn't stop him from asking, night after night. I had one once in his memory; it was pretty damned good! I've never made one at home, though, so here's a recipe I found:

Whiskey Sour

No Slack
When I was younger I used to like these...

Red Rattlesnake Ingredients
1/2 shot Southern Comfort
1/2 shot Amaretto
1/2 shot Triple Sec
1 splash 7 Up
1 splash Grenadine
1 shot Sweet and Sour Mix
Pour all ingredients over ice in a highball glass, shake, and serve.

Probably within a month or so.
That's enough time if you wanted to try it. Peels of six lemons into a grain alcohol (I use vodka) let sit in a cool dark place for 3 days to 2 weeks. Then add equal parts simple syrup as your alcohol. Add extra sugar (or in my case honey) to taste and stir with a spring of rosemary.

Try Empress Gin with some citrus and elderflower tonic water. Add a sprig of rosemary for some herby vibes. It’s delicious and looks absolutely stunning.

I am not a drinker but can recommend walnut liqueur if you tastes run to strong, dark and sweet. Not for downing the bottle though.

This i find is the best but it getting difficult to find.

Outa here... bye-bye!
Kamikaze. No idea what's in it, but when you get up you dive for the deck!

My go-to drink is dirty martini, shaken not stirred. (Yes, it matters)

Right now I can only drink Ta-kill-ya (Wasted away again in margaritaville...)
and Sake. (hot or cold never room)

Yellow Birds are nice - if you can get Galliano, which seems to be rather out of fashion. They are based on white rum, though. Yellow Bird Cocktail Recipe | Cocktail Society

I'm referring to the original version, with white rum, triple sec or Cointreau, lime juice and Galliano. I see though that some people make into a long drink with pineapple juice and so forth.

(When I make the original version they always come out rather green, due to the lime juice. Maybe it's because my bottle of Galliano is about 14 years old.;) )

Im marking this informative cuz I don't know much about alcohol being as I've never drank(underage) and I didn't know vodka wasn't a type of wine. i honestly now just realizing i don't know what the difference between wine is to other kinds of alcohol. Will one of y'all drinkers give me a short rundown on what exactly wine is? I know its often made from grapes does all wine have to be made with it? I don't know if i thought maybe there was wine without grapes now im realizing I've never thought about what's in wine.

One of my favorite drinks of all time.
When the maple syrup bottle is nearly empty,
I rinse it with water, & swish it around inside to
dissolve the remaining thicker syrup.
This dilute maple syrup water is the best tasting
drink ever.

I don't know enough about wine, owing to my aversion to it and never caring to read more about it. Someone else could be more helpful in this area. :D

Thanks for the suggestions, all! I'll bring up these options with my friend and see what we end up picking.
