    And Shia's.

I would say that Sufi's have taken traditions over religious obligations but there are also Sufi's who do separate the women's and men.

    Hello,

There is difference between people who is really sufi, people who study about sufi or just sufi followers. It's not easy actually to be sufi, because it's not about reading a book anymore, it's more to meditate and mystical experience. I rather say it's more personal way to connect to god. Doesn't mean you do sufis thing, you are sufi, No . It's 1 in a million.

If you want to meditate or reach at high level of spirituality, before to do it, you must need to 100% relax your mind and body. So what should we do to relax our mind? we all have different personality, not all have a same taste right?. Some need to listening music , some need to do sport, dancing or whatever can make their 100% relax... Sufi Whirling, it's suppose to do it personal before but right now it's more becoming fiesta.

I know there a lot of confusing between the word 'Sufi' and 'Sufism'. Sufi is a title of high ranking in Islam, like title of 'Imam', 'Mufti', 'Sheikh' but in a different role. Sufism is more like student of Sufi or group. For example Hazrat Inayat Khan a founder of Universal Sufism, Rumi and Al-Ghazali. They all a Sufi but has a group, have a student and different philosophy. Some of their student can reach a Sufi level some are not.. The thing I don't like it is some of sufi student claim that he is Sufi than brought a new teaching and philosophy, and if he's teaching too deviate or stray from sufis core, than It can bring a bad name to Sufi.

That is a new designation for me that I Wasn't aware of.

In Tibetan Buddhism "Lama" is the teacher and it has, in the past been referred to as "Lamaism".... and that is sort of what you are saying about Sufi/ism here it seems.

    Sufi=Teacher
Sufism=Belief in the teachings of the Sufi

That is correct according to how you spoke about it?

Also... this is saying that you can't practice Sufism without a Sufi/Teacher, correct?

That's right, Brother ... you can't practice Sufism without Sufi/teacher and you can't learn it by just reading a book or just learn it in internet, especially in advanced Sufism that full of mystical thing..

Maybe he just keep mystical knowledge just for himself :).. some Sufi's do that..
You can't reach Sufi level if you don't have full mystical knowledge.. If he don't have it, he just a student of Sufi..

Mystical knowledge is wide but Sufi knows a lot more than anybody, an exorcism is mystical too. Sunni at your place don't do an exorcism, brother? . I live at country that, 99% is Sunni, there's a lot of Sunni can do an exorcism... Doesn't mean you Sunni, you can't learn of mystical thing.

I don't see exorcism as a mythical thing. I am sorry but on what kind of subjects do they know more i always hear the claims that Sufi's know more but i never understood that please clarify?

They do exorcism but only Imams that are familiar and know everything about it.

Thanks for a good conversation we had here :)...

Perhaps you can ask Imam that can do Exorcism at your place, that 'is exorcism is part of Mystical thing?'.He can answer you easily..

Ok.. I can clarify some of it. But I ask you to a little bit open minded, and thanks again for asking.

As I say, Mystical thing is wide, including Supernatural thing, lucid dreaming, controlling the inner energy, etc. This 3 knowledge is Sufi always have .. I will explained this 3 because it's the easiest one and I explained as simplest as I can.

    -Supernatural-

    > What is supernatural? of course, it's invisible, what is type of invisible?.. An angel of course, devil, demon, and thousands of types of it. And the most important, the invisible that we well known is 'GOD'. Does Sufi can connect with supernatural thing? Yes, they can, but I don't think they can connect to GOD directly because it's a level of Prophets.. Still, Sufi can connect with some them, not only can talk to them but can see them..
So if we don't believe in Supernatural, then automatically we don't believe in GOD.

    -Lucid Dream-

    > Sufi also have this skills, they aware that they are dreaming and can control it... Every dream has a meaning and message, and Sufi can interpret people dream..

    -Inner Energy- (knowledge of self)

    > Sufi can Control their energy body, mind, emotion, etc at the higher level, with breathing skills that they have practice.. They always keep calm in any situation.

Many of this knowledge, we can't learn it by our own self or by the book. We need teacher, that can guide you so you can experience it by yourself and after that, our love, trust and loyalty to God become more more deeper and strong. And If someone want to reach title of SUFI, they must expert at Haqiqa and Marifa first then they entitle to it. It's not easy, the more you go deep, the more you faced difficulties and tests from God.

For me, the title such as Sufi, Imam, Ulama, Mufti, Sheikh is all the same. It's just a title and search the same thing, KNOWLEDGE. Some of them don't even have title at all but their knowledge beyond everyone. The one that make difference is if 'You Learn more, You got more'.

    P/S : only GOD knows, who's better.

Why do you think that many Sufis are now coming from a Shia background? I'm curious to any ideas you have of why this is happening.
