Suffering

can anything good come from suffering?
Yes. We often need to experience real suffering, ourselves, to be able to respect and appreciate the reality of the suffering of others.

Also, we often need to experience real suffering to know the difference between it, and emotional grandiosity.

And finally, we often need to experience real suffering to remind us how valuable those times that we are free from suffering, are. Not just for ourselves, but for others, too.

Interestingly Bible says for example:

…make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Heb. 2:10

Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials, that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ-
1 Pet. 1:6-7

Maybe suffering is like fire where people are cleaned from impurity. And if so, good thing about suffering can be that person is stronger, purer, focused on good rather than bad. And perhaps also Cicero is right, “Man must suffer to be wise”.
