The OT did deal moreso with nations, but we can't imply it was only concerned about nations simply because we read about nations.
I think if it's talking about a nation, we'd damned well better infer it's about a nation. That is, if we think the text has any real meaning apart from what we'd like it to say.

I never said or implied dependency. We are talking about correlating concepts. Just a light hearted discussion.
The two don't correlate in the way you suggest. Primarily because the NT is appendant to the OT. The OT, to the Jews, is complete by itself.
