Still think it's an exaggeration?

You didn't know already?
Rich people getting another dollar in their bank account is way more important than issues that concern all of us.

The only way to fight it is to hold gov. accountable in all matters all the time
If the US political powers have 100mil people telling them to solve this issue and do it yesterday or get removed, what will they do?

It's a theme throughout history that lower class people only take so much before they turn on their representatives.
It'll keep going and going, until it's already too late and the people in power have lost the chance to apologize.

The past really does repeat itself, or rather, the themes of the past stay alive no matter the scenario.
What a stupid species we belong to.

Yes ... after all, how else will world governments extort more money from taxpayers?

I would like to see the scientists that actually said those things and their credentials.

Scientists aren't supposed to make claims, they are there to tell us what is most likely.
It's what they are supposed to represent through the science they practice, in any case.

Perhaps we should put aside our ideological differences to tackle this growing problem?

The article below does a reasonable job explaining the methodology:

http://www.sciencealert.com/scientists-say-it-could-already-be-game-over-for-climate-change

this may be the link to the original study which may be helpful for the more scientifically literate among us. it looks like it has a lot of mathematical modelling and jargon, as well as emphasising the uncertainties of modelling the climate.

Meanwhile the less rational part of me is screaming inside.

What? Me worry?
Pure garbage. This is simply a hit piece against the US. The article blames America for all the world's "climate change" without even the least bit of blame being put on the worst polluters on the planet; China, India, and Russia. Again, if there were even a scrap of provable evidence that this "(man made) climate change" were happening, then the NatGeo channel would have programs 24/7 showing the proof and the results of any CC destruction.

Nothing spells power like a desperate public frightened by an identified enemy.
The climate models have a poor track record on predictive value.

Exactly. It gets old quick with things like a scientist said that, groups of scientists say this.....

Faces, field of study, names please.

There's plenty of evidence.....
"new research suggests"
"it has been said"
"studies show"
"many scientists say"
"Game over! We're all gonna die during our lifetime!"

That's ****ing BS. Developing nations have a right to develop . period. energy poverty is real and it's harmful to the well-being.

China and Africa skipped land lines and went to cell phones . Africa skipped the bank infrastructure and went to mobile banking

They could do it to with green tech if we lead the way as we did with every other technical and industrial revolution .

One day China will surpass us on being green and they will lead and get The new jobs.

We need to act.

Denial is appealling, I see.
One can oppose both denial and exaggeration.
Over-reaction is another ill to watch out for.
I'll even add "under-reaction".
We should be doing more in areas of conservation & population limitation.
(That last one is taboo....but we're gonna face it. The only question is when.)

Don't forget our old pal: false equivalency. Including the implied variety.

"False equivalency" is the left's standard accusation any time they disagree with someone.
They're so superior that no one should have the temerity to present another view.
Essentially, it's the prohibition of giving serious consideration to any other's claim.....
"We're right."
"You're wrong."
"To deign to hear you out would be 'false equivalency'."

Protecting the Environment and dealing with Climate Change do not have to be a "left-wing" issue in the USA. In 2016 a poll showed 47% of conservatives believe in Climate Change:

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/many-more-republicans-now-believe-in-climate-change/

Groups such as ConservAmerica support environmental conservation within the Republican Party:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ConservAmerica

The Republican Party also has a history of environmental legislation such as Teddy Roosevelt creating the national park service, or Nixon starting the environmental protection agency.

....And this is not even a "Right-wing" issue in the rest of the world and people living in most countries accept it.
