How do we know she is rich...Being in real estate does not mean you have money....I have a sister in real estate and she is definitely not rich.

How do we know she is rich? Rich estate agent does not equal to being rich. There are struggling real estate agents out there.

Before people dismiss the idea that race never played a factor and immediately go into class....Someone tell me how they know she is rich unless I missed something....

Again I'm asking people how does her being identified as a real estate agent equates to being rich? She broke the law, and any DUI offense regardless whether its your first your license is suspended.

I know about the discrepancy between men and women and in the case of Huffman I believe her wealth as well as her ethnicity played a part. I'm sure more often in that case her wealth played more of an integral part considering her legal team and all.

Actually, it's more about the attorney you hire and what connections the attorney has with his or her peers. This is why rich people tend to get off easy - because they pay for expensive lawyers. But it has nothing to do with race.

I actually agree with you here. Most people drive drunk and a lot of people get away with not being caught. In my case we were all drunk, I just happened to be less drunk than the other four. Towing fees, breathalyzer device in car, CalTrans, fines, not worth it. But even more it's not worth being drunk and potentially killing someone.

Sure money plays a part but it is research evidence that in these factors race in addition to class plays a part. Would you like to see the racial discrepancy in legal sentencing?

I tend to think of OJ Simpson in cases like this.

I'm sure she had connections to a good attorney. If she wasn't "rich" then maybe she was fortunate enough to have friends or family with good connections.

    @Father Heathen @Rival @David1967

Oh did I forget to mention that this woman also used her race as a reason to not go to jail?

Here is the in depth article and video per this link

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-too-pretty-for-jail-police-werent-impressed/

Edit: Not in the video but article the police officer wrote:

"Later, at the precinct, police officer Baker Odom wrote in his report, Cutshaw went further. She said she was also a “thoroughbred” and “white, clean girl,” Odom wrote."

If the research evidence also shows proportionately who had reputable, paid representation.

Regardless of representation there are legal discrepancies based on sentencing. Not every lawyer is that good. People forget judges are people to and sometimes do not have an objective mindset.

I was referring to Felicity Huffman. I didn't watch the video.

I'm thinking the woman in the video (OP) Huffman yes I know she is rich but I'm referring to the drunk woman. I'm trying to figure out how people dismiss even the fact that her race was a factor. If you see my post per my tagging you she used her race as a privilege to get out of jail time.

I wasn't saying that race wasn't a factor, but rather that it's a combination of factors. I think wealth, fame, and/or attractiveness play a larger part. I can guarantee that a middle-aged, balding, pot-bellied white dude in a beat up pickup truck wouldn't have received the same treatment as pretty princess.

White privilege would have to be balanced against other privileges, eg, black, female.
Affirmative action is still around, albeit with murkier application.
