Statistical Reasoning

,

Use Google
as an introduction to these authors,
buy the books and read them.
Start with Dr. Riplinger
(manuscript evidence and
computational linguistics).

Start on YouTube
with Dr. Gene Kim (purified text theory).
He is a graduate of Pensacola Bible Institute
and Berkley University.

Lightly seared on the reality grill.
use google as an introduction

I did - that's why I know "purified text theory" doesn't appear to exist outside of forums by one user (probably you).

Dr. Gene Kim - purified text theory

I can find the person but again, if I quote "purified text theory" there are no results. Why can't you post an actual link? The person seems to believe in "King James Only" - which is a joke, right? Seriously?

I also notice you haven't even tried to defend your nonsense about probabilities...

All of those authors support
the purified text theory
and the record theory.

I wrote these theories and developed
the world's first bachelor of science
in academic theology degree.

Let me makes this as simple as possible.

Find a KJV Holy Bible.
Since it is the most published,
distributed, translated, preached
and believed book of all time
it shouldn't be to difficult.

Look for a black book,
red or gold timmed pages
with two words on the cover.

Read Psalms 12:6-7

The thread title was about statistical reasoning.
I saw only a claim of probability.

I've counted 987 different religions.
Let's round it off to 1000, since I've no doubt missed a great many.
So....the odds of picking the right one are less than 0.1%.
Now that is an unsatisfying probability.

I've showed you my calculations.
Your turn to show me yours.

Ever heard of "moral equivalency" ?
I think we need a new term, "religious equivalency"

So your Ron Hubbard's Dianetics is equivalent to the whole scope and breadth of
1500 years of the bible, including it's history of the rise, fall and current return of
Jews to Israel.

And still no actual link to any reputable academic source....

So what's that supposed to tell me? That a particular translation of an old collection of religious myths say the words of some god charcater are pure and will be persevered. Wow.

The "Original Only" theorists
become embarrassed and unresponsive.

The "KJV Only" theorists
become jealous and closed minded.

Atheists are reprobate and dishonest.

Agnostics are slow of heart to believe.

Catholics are superstitious and give
precedence to Codex Vaticanus.

Unitarians can't find true wider hope.

The infinite universe theoretical physicists
believe man will continue to expand
throughout the entire universe
and evolve towards everlasting life
or at least a conscious particle of reality.

All I said was the Purified Text Theory
produces the truest Sola Scriptura Theology with 100% probability, mathematically.

The twenty five years postdoctoral
Ed.D. research was exhaustive.
The results are conclusive
and categorical in the
manuscript evidence, bible canonization,
bible doctrine, church history,
the development of higher education,
the organization of nations,
billions of bible and
computational linguistics.

I'm gonna call troll on this one.

Agreed.

Now that we have allowed this person enough rope to hang himself with his illiterate reliance on probabilities far exceeding unity, we have proof beyond doubt that he is a fraud and a fantasist - presumably just another internet crank, seeking attention. He strongly reminds me of another "James" in fact, but that's by the way.

I suspect we won't get much more amusement out of this character, so it could be time to invoke the DNFTT principle. I think that's what I'm going to do at any rate - though I may look in from time to time to see if anything really funny transpires. :D

Oh, I wouldn't call them equivalent.
Scientology has been far more harmless.
Although not for lack of trying....short history & 3rd tier status helped.

Dang, I feel called to weigh in here.

Ya know....you aren't alone in seeing other posters' faults.
Those of us who see'm don't need to be told.
Those who don't see'm, won't benefit from personal criticism.
So harshing another poster serves no purpose.
And it's against the rules & spirit of RF.

While it might not seem so, even I must continually hold my tongue.
I've some opinions that no one wants to hear.

Indeed, generations of exiled Jews, going back to the destruction of their temple,
would agree with you. It was told of them a thousand years before the first Jewish
monarchy that with the coming Messiah they would lose their nation. Jesus said
Jerusalem would be trampled under the feet of the Gentiles, until the Gentiles
time was complete. So certainly the bible isn't harmless, particularly to those who
rejected it.

It's the dishonesty I can't stomach. This person is/was pretending to have academic credentials.

We must learn to be tolerant of, & civil towards lesser posters.
The best way to stomach them is to disengage before one's
equanimity suffers. Not all opinions need be aired.

Besides, there are mindsets & perspectives which might
appear to be dishonest, yet are sincerely held. Leaps to
accusations of dishonesty reflect poorly only on the accuser.

Unless it is an accurate leap.

Generally, I agree in principle, but have difficulty with rendering it to practice. A weakness? I am unsure, being neither convinced one way or the other at this time.

Atheists, "none of the originals" theorists,
actually think they are wiser than Solomon
and offer humanity more hope than
the Lord Jesus Christ.

I conferenced with Dr. Paul Kurtz,
the coauthor of the humanist manifesto 2.
Honestly, it was like sparring a white belt.

Were it accurate (ie, objectively verifiable), it wouldn't be called a "leap".
