St. Thomas Christians

these are a facinating group of people....

the Apostle Thomas, after Christ's ascention, went to India on a mission trip, and won many converts there. included in his audience were local Cochin Jews.

the church that grew from this work retained many interesting elements of Judaic worship, not found else where in Christiandom.

thier symbol encorporates a cross, the ends budding into flowers, atop a menorah. they are a very ancient group of Christians, unique in the world. apparently many of their Judaic practices and unique religious characteristics made them targets of Portuguese Roman Catholic persecution in the 1500's.

they remain today, and i would love to someday learn more about them.
