Peace and mercy of Allah be on you…..Who among us does not know, offering Salaat is compulsory for Muslims. In Holy Quran, at various places, attention is drawn to it with different references. Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that Salaat is the kernel of worship………… Leaving Salaat makes human close to disbelief and shirk (making associate with Allah)…………On the day of Qaiyyamat, first of all, the thing, which a person would be made accountable for, it is Salaat. If this measure is correct then he is successful and gets salvation otherwise he is at loss.

To make children regular in Salaat, he (s.a.w.) said to advice them at age 7 and do strictness at age 10.
If parents are not regular in offering Salaats, how can they ask children about it. If children, in their Ijlasaat (religious meetings), hear these sayings of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) but they do not find their parents regular in Salaats, what will be effect on them? Obviously, they shall think this one and eventually all other Islamic directives are not important. According to saying of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) such people make themselves and their children losers.
Parents mention their concern about their children’s worldly progress. But they do not care about the real thing to have concern about.

Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) mentioned the importance of Salaat by a beautiful example. He (s.a.w.) asked if a canal is flowing near someone’s door, and he take bath in it five times a day, will there be any dirt left on his body? The companions said O Messenger of Allah surely no dirt will remain. At this Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said , then, same example is of five Salaats. Allah the Exalted forgives sins with these, and removes weaknesses.
It means no trace of dirt stay on the soul of the one who offers five daily Salaats.

The commandment is not only about offering Salaat. Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) further explained for the removal of dirt of soul for real Momin / believer that when he does ablution at home and heads to mosque, for one step his one sin is forgiven and for other step his status is exalted.

He (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) mentioned the importance of Salaat in congregation in this way: "Should I not tell you something with which Allah the Exalted removes sins and elevates stations." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) who were ever ready to find occasion to please Allah the Exalted and learn its ways, and to achieve His nearness and be detached from their sins, implored, "O Messenger of Allah, do tell." He (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said, "by performing ablution properly despite not feeling up for it, and by setting off for the mosque from afar and by waiting for the next Salat after offering one. But this is a frontier. But this is a frontier. (like making posts at border)."
Cantonments are made at borders of country for security, safety from enemy, and for quick preparation if attacked. So a Momin has to make the spiritual cantonment against the greatest danger i.e. danger of Satan. It attacks by creating low earthly desires in hearts. To have safety from it, Salaat in congregation is the spiritual cantonment, it is guarding troop. Salaats save from sins and draw attention to do virtues.

Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said reward for offering Salaat in congregation is 27 times more than offering alone.
Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) states the importance of Salaat in congregation:
"In Salaat, the reason for placing more reward in congregational one, is that unity is created by it. Then to bring the unity in practical form, instruction and emphasis is upto that, feet too should be aligned mutually [for it, heels are made aligned] and row should be straight, and (Salaat-offerers) should be connected with each other. Purpose of it is that, as if they have ruling of being one human [i.e. row making will make them like one human, power will be developed] and lights of one could permeate in other, such distinction, by which, selfhood and selfishness is developed should not remain [i.e. rich and poor stand in one row, Salaat in congregation ends ego and selfish thoughts]. Remember it well that, in human, this power is present that he absorbs lights of other.”
Someone have more goodness and is at exalted station of virtues, other will absorb first’s effect. So to absorb effect of virtues, congregational Salaat too is effective. There is manifestation of unity by Salaat in congregation, which Allah the Exalted wants to develop in Ummah. Also there is mutual effect of each others’ virtues. When in one row, doers of more virtues and spiritually excelled people and weak people will be standing, then, effect of virtuous ones will be on weak ones. Then in weak ones too, power to get progress in virtues will increase and their spirituality will rise too. When this unity is developed and when spirituality increases, satanic powers become weak.

In this era, Allah the Exalted has sent the true servant of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) [i.e. The Promised Messiah, Covenanted Mahdi (on whom be peace)] who guided us to develop right understanding of worships and Salaats. Our claim of accepting him demands we should remove weaknesses in our deeds, especially the weakness in Salaats which are foundation and are required.

In Holy Quran, obligation of five Salaat is mentioned at several places and related sayings of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) are very clear. Salaat in congregation is obligation for each adult Muslim man with understanding. Missionaries and organizations of Jama'at should repeatedly keep reminding members about offering congregational.

Every Ahmadi must offer Salaat in a manner that facilitates getting spiritual pleasure and delight. Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that to attain this pleasure, one should be steadfast and punctual in offering Salaat, never abandon it, set a spiritual standard of delight in mind, keep trying with perceptual strength and all physical powers with consistency, with sincerity, passion, restlessness and presenting pain before Allah --- all this will bring pleasure.
Thus continuous effort with determination will soften heart and delight will be obtained in Salaat.

Allah the Exalted says that Salaat keeps a person away from evil deeds.
We find there are people who, despite offering Salaat, still engage in foul behavior. Why is so? Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) explains that they do not offer Salaat with spirit and truthfulness.
We should examine our spiritual states.
During hardships people cry and sob in their prayers, and while doing daily tasks they pray to Allah, and are always inclined to Allah, and they are always mindful of offering Salaats as well. They must have certain feelings of suffering in their hearts, due to which they remain engage in prayers.
But when their desires are fulfilled, trouble are over, they become sluggish in their prayers and humble pleading to Allah.
Thus regardless of situation, hardship or prosperity, we should always make effort to get pleasure and intoxication in Salaat as Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) has instructed. Not only for personal matters, a true believer should feel pain of present day societal matters too. Pain and agony leads him to beseeching prayers.
At places, animosity and antagonism is being openly expressed against Ahmadis. Ahmadis should get delight is Salaats and populate their mosques too. Accomplishments will be achieved by alertness and vigilant guards on frontiers of paying rights of five Salaat. Worldwide Jama'ats should pay basic and special attention to this matter, then financial matters, internal affairs and Qaza issue will become right too.

These days dangers of war and destruction in the world are on rise, only refuge of Allah can save us. People ask Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be his Helper) what will happen if war started, how should they proceed? Huzur (a.t.) tells them to be saved from such calamities do as what Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said i.e. fall in love with Allah the Exalted Who is Master of all affairs.
The only way to show such love is to make effort to get the pleasure and delight by shaping our Salaats according to divine desire.
Some people think people in the west are prosperous without prayers and good deeds. And some think they are better than westerners because they offer two or three Salaats at the very least.
We should keep in mind that agony is destined for those who forget God. We should not follow them. We should not look at their on-the-surface condition. Save yourselves and progenies. Follow teaching of Holy Quran. Allah the Exalted has directed us to believe in Him, Salaat is very next. Every Ahmadi man and woman should offer Salaat. Their men should specially offer congregational Salaat.

Offering couple of Salaat like others is not an Ahmadi way. Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has explained importance, method and philosophy of Salaat for us. We have to fulfill pledge of Bai'at with him.
