Something i am wondering

1.When jesus died he gave his spirit to God.
2.When stephen died he gave his spirit to jesus.
Why did stephen do that if it's God that gets your spirit?Like in Ecc 12:7?

Why did both stephen and jesus direct their spirit?

To me it reminds me of that old prayer kid's say as they are going to sleep:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my Soul to keep,
If I should die before I 'wake,
I pray the Lord my Soul to take

Maybe stephen didn't know about Ecc 12:7?

Is Stephen someone who worships Jesus? If so it makes sense. Giving your spirit to God and Jesus in Christianity can be considered the same thing, no?

You are confusing soul and spirit again. They are not the same thing.
Jesus entrusted his lifebreath....meaning his continued existence into God's care. He was to be in his tomb for three days and nights, and the only way for him to live again was for God to resurrect him...to bring back his life from the sleep of death.

Stephen was gazing into heaven (as he was granted a vision before he died) and he saw his Master at God's right hand. Knowing that God had given the resurrection to Jesus (John 5:28-29) he entrusted his future life to Jesus as the one who would resurrect him.

Jesus did not resurrect himself, so his resurrection was entrusted to God.

Why did both stephen and jesus direct their spirit?

They were both expressing trust in the resurrection as both believed in the finality of death. Only a resurrection can bring someone back from the dead, no matter how long they have rested in their graves. Time has ceased, so when these ones awaken, it will be as if they closed their eyes only a moment ago.

To me it reminds me of that old prayer kid's say as they are going to sleep:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my Soul to keep,
If I should die before I 'wake,
I pray the Lord my Soul to take

You need to lose those ideas that Christendom implanted to make death more acceptable, especially for children. In those days death among children was common and some families were decimated by epidemics such as diphtheria. To ease the fear, children were taught that Jesus would take them to be with him and that heaven would be a good place and they would be happy. This is nothing close to what Jesus taught however. They tended to link that idea with Jesus saying "suffer the little children to come unto me"....when his statement had nothing to do with actual suffering.

Study Frank....that is what will answer your questions.
