Socialist Bernie Sanders won't even pay his own staff a 'living' wage.

It's the current Pub mantra to attack "socialism", and yet I doubt very much if most who use it really understand what "socialism" is or isn't.

For examples, is socialism a political or economic system? Is Sweden, for example, a "socialist" country? Is China (PRoC) a "socialist" country, and if it is, then why has it grown much faster economically over the last couple of decades than the U.S. if "socialism" doesn't work? Is the U.S. a "socialist" country? If one is against "socialism" and lives here in the States, then will the anti-socialists collect on their Social Security, Medicare, or even expect the United States Armed Services to defend them since these all are "socialistic" programs run by the fed and financed through taxes for the benefit of all, which is what "socialism" is? Maybe some should even look up the Wiki article on "socialism" to see how diverse it really is.

The bottom line: all countries today have what we call "mixed economies", and that is a blend of capitalistic and socialistic programs. So, for one to say the "socialism" is somehow evil and that it doesn't work is complete nonsense. However, that won't stop the Pub fear-mongering.

This is a drop in the bucket (a damning drop in the bucket, but a drop nonetheless,) compared to Donald Trump and many Republican and Establishment Democrat senators. Interesting who you decide to put in your crosshairs though.

AOC felt entitled to a substantial increase in her pay , dictating a substantial decrease in her senior staff pay to make her look good to increase her low-level subordinate pay just like a socialist media darling would do without sacrificing any such pay for herself.

So, you find one opinion source and that's all you depend on? And then your sarcastic response above on something you clearly know so very little about is really a crown-jewel of ignorance and arrogance if there ever was one. I've read numerous books on Sweden, including one that I'm currently reading, plus I have numerous cousins there that live a cleaner, happier, more educated, and more secure life than we have here in the States, but you would never know that as you obviously don't study. "Socialism" doesn't mean nor imply that everyone needs to have a similar income, only what we call "pure communism" and Marxism considers that to be the ideal. There are many millionaires in the Scandinavian countries, and that is not in opposition to their form of socialism.

Yep giving herself a nice big pay raise, and cutting the pay of her senior staff to pay for the 'living' wage of the lower staff. God forbid should she cut hers.

The dictionary told me that socialism is "a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole." That would be, to me, similar to giving employees shares in a company which is done. I don't see a problem with this. The only problem would be can people excel if they have the ability-the capitalist system? That can be either good or bad. People should be able to move ahead if they have the capability but they shouldn't be able to monopolize. So, I'm kind of down the middle on that.
