In Monopoly Socialism, an official version of the game manufactured by the toy company Hasbro, players move around the board contributing to community projects "unless they can steal projects to get ahead," according to the product's description.
When players pass go, they get a $50 "living wage" as opposed to the usual $200, and the tokens are all dated artifacts like a typewriter, a phonograph, a pocket watch, an old-fashioned telephone and an old-style TV set.

Available from Amazon.

It seems there is a Community fund from which everything is paid for. However it is difficult to actually put money into this fund so it usually dries up and everyone goes bankrupt.

I was expecting to find that Boardwalk and Park Place were MUCH more expensive to land on and that the owners of those two get permanent 'get out of jail free' cards.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

The game of Monopoly reflects what raw unregulated capitalism is all about. The ultimate goal is for one individual to have EVERYTHING, while everyone else ends up with NOTHING. That's why for capitalism to actually work, it needs to be heavily regulated and socialist programs need to be enacted to ensure that the gross inequities of raw capitalism don't occur. We learned that lesson back at the beginning of the last century when unfettered capitalism threatened the stability of society, but today we've forgotten our history and are clearly repeating it. Sadly, it's misrepresentations of what capitalistic socialism is that adds to our collective ignorance on the subject.

Well, Monopoly is the name of the game.
