Social Security Crisis

Thief

Rogue Theologian
In recent years a collection of observations prompts me to post this.
In1996, Lester Thurow, a world class economist, predicted that this current century would have stark revelations about how an economy actually works.

He had made several statements in the speech I saw, which he considered undeniable....such as....only half of America is working.
Referring to the American census bureau, half of America is too old or too young to participate in the work place.

That means Social Security is held functional by what half of the population is doing...and the other half is living off of it.

I've seen three men in suits stand behind a podium..representing Social Security...make the announcement...something needs to be done...because for each check going out, it is supported by only two employees paying in.
At the inception of the program....sixteen people paid in, for each one drawing out.

Yesterday, I hear, the population (currently working) moving into retirement, will climb into the 50% bracket within two years. (it may be there now.)
In less than ten years 75%.

People do not die fast enough, overseas sweatshops steal jobs, funding to public education cut resulting in under educated people unable to get well paid jobs, automation of more functions removing jobs from under educated , do it yourself service functions (like paying bills online rather then to a cashier).

We can do a long list, point is we are at the end of the current system, full scale socialism have already failed and so will now capitalism. The solution is of course something balanced using the good points of both these system discarding the bad ones.
