Is murdering us. 25 years ago I would have said the internet is the greatest human achievement, eclipsing pyramids and maybe chocolate.

I've watched humanity digress into a near subhuman state in those years. Really, I blame it all people like me too. We're too reclusive like little spiders crawling to and from our hidden webs. As soon as the big mean faces show up we scamper away. Never standing. Never vocalizing.

I may have a solution.

Tarsis monkey memes and foot fetish Friday. I don't have a foot fetish, or tarsis monkeys. But I have to save humanity. What's left of it.

Maybe this is just another thread to ramble on in. Or just do more random things.

The better solution is to start standing and vocalizing. People don't understand feet. They understand words.

Only if you let it. This is all I do for social media.
I never understood the mass appeal, and I'm deeply introverted.

This pains me to say.... but I don't think its social media itself.

Painful, because I tend to hate most of it, RF being the only one I use.

I think its constant access. We had the internet when I was a kid, but you had to be home, behind your computer to use it. Now everyone has it in their pocket. You don't have to wait to get home to see what your cousin's friend's sister ate for lunch, you can see a picture of it right NOW while Grandma's talking to you, or while you're walking down the street, or while you're sitting on equipment at the gym, or while you're driving a big rig. We've made it okay to be rude, negligent, and sometimes dangerous all in the name of screen checking.

Bring on the primates!

I was hoping for a "flinging poop" option...

Since there is no "flinging poop" option, I am not voting.

Just fling poop, take a photo, and post it here.
That's what I'm gonna do, although on reflection I should have used a digital camera instead of a polaroid...

The everywhere-access issue is definitely real.

New technology always causes a disruption in society, so it could be that it takes some time to get used to the presence of social media. There is quite a lot of net porn whereas there didn't use to be, and that has changed some things. Another game changer is surveillance, and there is quite a lot of that, too.

Last but not least is the neverending meme that JUST WON"T GO AWAY

I think the singest biggest difference now in terms of disruption is the sheer rate of change. By the time you are bedding one change down in your mind, the next has already impacted.
I'm in no way change averse, but the last 2 years has been mentally exhausting to keep up with.

I quit trying years ago....

There are social consequences for not keeping up, but there are potential problems with everything. The question is, then, which set of problems does one want to deal with?

Does it count if you view each digit and toe as an individual primate?

I miss when the world as a whole was still internet free. And then we had dialup as a norm, which was slow.
Now it's everywhere and instant. It should be a law that of your are talking to someone amd this person takes out a phone and begins to use it, you are entitled to whop the cretin on the face using the arseling's own phone.

Every day I have refrained from ripping the phone out of some person's hand and stomping on it, I consider a success.

Of course, its not the phone itself that is the problem, either. Its that we seem to have let decent manners slide in favor of constant usage. When someone gets in a wreck, its time to help, not whip out the phone and record.

Merrily, merrily merrily, merrily,
Life is but a meme

I actually like the world this way. You can talk to people anytime you want, but you never have to (because everybody around you is on their phone too).
