Since we human beings can not truly understand what God or a Buddha is. Should we even try describing them with our own human words?

Can we even give them respect if we try describing them to other human beings when we do not fully understand God or Buddha?

What is in the Bible 'describing' God is human word, keeping in mind that what is 'described' are the attributes only.

In a sentence yes and no. Yes we must because we are compelled to do so and because we have been deeply grateful for other's efforts in this regard. No because we might fall into the trap of self-certainty and arrogance and because we might trigger others who have felt the hand of abuse through the language of faith.

We pretty much have to, otherwise the concepts wouldn't exist for us.

But the spiritual life is within us, if we describe God or a Buddha wrongly, isnt that actually wrong according to the teaching?

I've determined this to range from extremely difficult to impossible and rather futile in practice.

according to GGS no being in the 3 realms has been successful in describing him , all one can do is remind others to stay open to it. GGS also says that each one of us gets their turn to experience him.. and no one is in vain for god ( since all souls come from the same source). ( Jis jan janaya so jan jania keh nerey kis door - tis tain birtha koi nahi) .

Christ Jesus mentioned "worship in spirit"
. 23“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers." This leads to "then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.". This is 'exclusive club' one can enters freely by own choice.

IMO, attempting to do so is fine, but claiming one actually knows is not.

I seriously doubt He is an old white guy with a beard as depicted in art.

It's in our nature to describe things we observe & think of.
Besides, everyone's description of gods is "not even wrong".

I think it's good for us to try and articulate our conceptions of "God", for ourselves and others. But I also think it's important that we always remember that our conceptions of "God" are NOT descriptions of God. They're merely descriptions of how we CHOOSE TO IMAGINE the reality of God. A reality that we humans are not really capable of grasping.

I think Buddha would disagree with that.

If you can’t realise Buddha nature in this lifetime then Buddha was BS.

    Or you are.

    Soft methods. Hard methods. Knackery.

Do what you want, but I personally see it as strange - and maybe even silly - to be a member of a religion and to focus your life on God if you can't even explain what "God" means.

To become a Buddha/enlighten being take more than a lifetime (according to Buddha and his teaching) But yes we should not stop trying

To understand God or Buddha take a lifetime :) so it is a part of the journey to find the right answers or wisdom if you like

Buddha said it would take a lot less than that.
