Because socialism is a broad idea like capitalism.
The definition of capitalism is quite broad, including state socialism (aka "state capitalism"),
but the definition of socialism is more restricted in that it doesn't allow for capitalism.
But this has apparently been modified....
Tarheeler's clarification narrowed things a great deal.
See here, starting with post #6....

The 1st Rule.
Um, I'm the FNG around the forums, so I dunno what blue and purple and green indicate, but from what I gather, I'd be okay with folks asking questions without trolling.

We used to have color coded levels of participation in restricted forums. That seems abandoned now. These days, we have such a broad definition of "libertarian" that few posters would be excluded.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the forum and wondering what I was apparently smoking.

As pointed out, the old software had different colors for some of the restricted areas. The restricted political areas, such as this one, were colored purple. While the color no longer exists, the same rules apply: In order to participate in these areas, one must identify as a member of that specific group based on the definitions provided at the top of each section.
