Military and economic might speak the language that American policy understands most.
Our economic policies are aggressive, but our military policies are returning to a conservative view after so many bad and expensive experiences.
American military aggression tends to only recognize power and geopolitical interests, not ethics or concern for human rights.
USA has no interest in invading Russia or taking its property, nor Ukraine's nor any of the countries around Russia. We also have not attempted to conquer Taiwan, and we released Japan almost as soon as we could. South Korea is its own country, not our property. So is South Vietnam. Our country has friendly relations with any country that will accept it, and we have ambassadors around the world.
the US won't even try to start a war with China as long as the latter remains such a significant global power.
We are also not interested in a war with China. There is no help for that ailing federation and its irresponsible king. That place needs a miracle not a war, and we also don't need a war.
the latter remains such a significant global power
Dependent upon the global trade made safe by the USA, until now. Now global trade is changing, and new powers will need to step up if they want to keep things going. PRC don't want us in the entire S China Sea which it suddenly claims it owns. It doesn't want us around. It doesn't like foreigners in its borders all of a sudden either. We can buy from someone else, and perhaps PRC can secure safe passage for its own oil and goods, but providing security in international waters is expensive and difficult. Boat captains do not like taking risks, either.
