Sexist music videos

We Never Know

By today's standards(or then), would this music video be considered sexist?

Post some music video's you consider sexist.

Now keep in mind these women chose (consented) to participate, were paid and probably thought hell yeah I'm going to get to dance and perform in a music video.

I suppose some could make the argument that it's sexist, but I'm not sure. After all, they're really only just dancing. Some people hear a rockin' song like that and just want to dance, no matter if they're male or female. I suppose they could have made it showing men and women dancing together, and maybe same sex couples dancing too. It's a cool song, and now is the time on RF when we dance.

Even as a straight woman I can appreciate some nice legs. :)

Anyway, despite my limited music viewership video range, this music video seems pretty tame. Out of curiosity, what made you choose this particular example? Just happenstance?

Okay, thanks. I've seen other videos that were too racy for my comfort zone, but as to the OP question, if that's what they want to do, it's their business. That one isn't much different than models on the runway or in advertising, I guess. The more raunchy videos though - the mom in me thinks there are things that aren't for kids, so that's where (I think) I'd draw my personal line, at age-appropriate.

I was terribly offended by that. . . . Do you have any more? Asking for a friend.

Bob Seger sucks. I don't think the video sucks. It is quite good. And maybe even Bob Seger is good in his own special way.

But he wasn't nearly as good as the Beatles, Jim Morrison, or Jimi Hendrix.

I thought that it was highly artistic. I hear that it even has lyrics, though I never noticed.

It was the lyrics that got it into trouble, the "blurred lines" being between consensual and non-consent sex.

And then Emily Ratajkowski later said that Robin Thicke groped her during the making of that video.

I did not know that he did that. Yeah, he crossed those lines since it was apparently not consensual. One thing one has to realize in a music video is that it is not porn. That means groping is not okay without clear permission. They are actors playing a role.
