Dead wrong. There could have been no translations without someone knowing the original languages. And there are disputes among scholars (who know the original languages) to this day over what the meaning of a particular word or phrase or even entire passage means.

Hello Milton, my post you were quoting from was in relation to understanding the scriptures in ones own language to which it was translated into. It's application was not to the need of having good translators for which there have been many highly skilled ones. There are indeed many disputes between scholars in relation to word applications between languages and as a result there are different bible translations. Not all are accurate but most provide the some overall ideas expressed within the scriptures and it is very easy to cross check parallel references today as well as look at the original texts and word meanings in the Hebrew and Greek. According to the scriptures back to the post you were quoting from I was trying to make the point that I bleieve, we cannot know God's Word even if we have a perfect translation as according to the scriptures spiritual things are spiritually discerned. The JEWS had the originals yet they did not see the Messiah in the scriptures that they pointed to the Messiah and they crucified the very one foretold in the scriptures they claimed to believe and follow. Unless God is our guide and teacher we cannot see or know God or his Word. According to the scriptures, these things are only revlealed by God to man *John 14:26; Hebrews 8:11; John 16:13; John 7:17; John 8:31-36.
