which type of service is optimal and why, service to all as self, or service to self only?

one is more pro than the other where otherness is contrast
In any healthy relationship ( lovers, friends, co-workers, etc..), there is no pro if the service-to-all-as-self results in total self sacrifice. In these situations, the relationship fails because it is missing the one who sacrificed themselves. Service-to-all-as-self requires at least a small portion of service-to-self. Thus, service-to-self moderates service-to-all-as-self in order to maintain a healthy relationship and the axiom is true: Everything in moderation.

Don't you value relationships?

there is no self-sacrifice in service to all. all includes self. self sacrifice and service to self doesn't include all.

nothing to excess would then mean that pro is neither self-sacrifice of one extreme to self-indulgence and service to the other extreme. so the pro is on service to all

We were talking about service-to-all-as-self, not just service-to-all. Service-to-all-as-self means "all" replaces "self".

all includes self. there is no "we" in "your" mis-understanding

everything would then be all in moderation, or service to all in moderation.

this is the ideal given in john 15:13

So what you meant was "service to all including self"?

all doesn't exclude anything; so yes. you even intuited it in your statement, "Everything in moderation". I reiterated it as: "nothing to excess"; which comes from the oracle of delphi.
