Serious revenge against phone scammers.

If I'm bored, I will answer these people and waste their time.

Occasionally, I will run a virtual machine as a honey trap.
Yes, there are people that make YouTube videos of this. Rober went a bit further. According to the video for a few days not only were the four infiltrated call centers shut down, but all of them locally. The guilty run even when no one is chasing them. These are not hackers so much today as they are scammers. Now there is some full scale hacking going on. Sometimes with inside help. In this video they have hacked into the companies CCTV system. The system that allows them to keep an eye on their employees allows the anti-scammer to identify them by name on the phone. If one has a superstitious nature it can be very upsetting to be on the receiving end:

The best scam I had was a few weeks ago, he claimed to have hacked my computer and had been video recording me masturbating while watching porn and wanted $800 not to send the video to all my contacts. Even though I use a desktop computer that doesn't have a camera I was concerned and negotiated the fee down to $400. Then I decided, what the hell I've been trying to send videos of me masturbating to my friends for years but they won't open them, maybe they'll open something from a stranger. When I told him this he hung up

I used to tell them that my computer was not turned on. So I would "turn on" my computer. I would explain to them that it was an Eniac and rather old and it took a while. I even went so far as saying "we have to wait for the tubes to warm up", perhaps I should have said "valve" <shudder>. None of them ever caught on.. We were still waiting for that 70 year old machine to get running.
