Serious Question for Muslims-Only Muslims answer please

I just read a book entitled The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad by Mark Hitchcock. It was a revealing look at the eschatology of the Hojjatieh Society. There were 17 points that were identified as central points to this belief. They are:

1. The Mahdi is coming soon.
2. Waiting for his coming is called "Awaiting Redemption."
3. The Imam Mahdi is a direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.
4. He will appear suddenly.
5. A voice from the skies will announce his reappearance at the Holy Ka'ba in Mecca.
6. He will be joined by 313 of the most devoted, enlightened believers, who will pledge loyalty to him.
7. Only God knows the exact time of his appearance on earth, although some believe it will occur on a Friday or in conjunction with the spring equinox.
8. The Mahdi will remain in Mecca for a while after his reappearance.
9. He will then travel to Medina.
10. Sofyani, an archenemy, will attack Syria and Iraq and commit great crimes against humanity in Iraq.
11. The Mahdi will send troops who kill Sofyani in Jerusalem.
12. Jesus will return and serve as the Mahdi's lieutenant or deputy.
13. The Mahdi will establish the seat of his global government in the city of Kufa. His headquarters will be the Sahla Mosque.
14. The earth will be filled with justice-a global government of peace and justice.
15. Islam will be the pinnacle of faith. All will convert to Islam. It will be the one pure, lasting world religion, practiced by all.
16. The world will experience astounding growth in science and technology as the Mahdi corrects all of man's scientific mistakes.
17. The earth will experience abundant rain, and vegetation will flourish-like an eternal springtime.

The book establishes that the central belief of the Hojjatieh society is that their devotees believe they can hasten or encourage the arrival of the Mahdi. They don't believe they can force his return but they do believe they can speed up his return by stirring up chaos. This precept is known as taajil. They believe that one of the significant signs is worldwide chaos, bloodshed, violence, and conflict. Thus this serves as the basis for war with Israel and the United States. Yes they hate the "Little Satan" and the "Great Satan", but their actual goal is to bring about the Muslim version of the end times described by the 17 points listed above.

My question to Muslims, is this an accurate representation of Muslim eschatology or is this belief unique just to this sect known as the Hojjatieh? If this is a belief just of the Hojjatieh sect, is it not in the best interest of Muslims to prevent Iran from acquiring an atomic bomb, to keep a possible first strike by Israel or it's allies from happening? If Islam is a religion of peace, what do mainstream Muslims think of a brother Muslim (Ahmadinejad) preparing to possibly start a chain of events that could kill millions or even hundred of millions around the world in an atomic conflict?

Thank you for your questions bepps

The Shia beliefs concerning the Mahdi are different from the Sunni beliefs, as basically the Mahdi is not mentioned in The Qur'an, but in a number of hadiths

For Sunni Muslims who represent 90% of Muslims around the world, the degree of authenticity of the hadiths concerning the Mahdi is explained on this link, which is one of the reasons why there is no consensus on the Mahdi:

Authenticity of Hadiths Pertaining to Al-Mahdi

As for the return of Jesus, peace be upon him, towards the end, yes Muslims do believe it is true:

Hope that helps

Defenders of the faith claim Hojjatieh's views centre on the belief that the return of the Mahdi, the 12th Shi'ite Imam, cannot be hastened, but that such a return is an impending physical event. The corollary that only then can a genuine Islamic republic be established, earned them their persecution under Khomeini. These supporters assert the view that they believe in spreading chaos in order to hasten the return of the Mahdi is a misunderstanding, and allegedly spread by critics of Ahmadinejad to attempt to make him appear dangerous.

Such beliefs are in Iran generally associated with superstitious, working class and peasant Muslims and so are derided and looked down upon by the traditional Shi'ite hierarchy, whether conservative or reformist.

Other concerns voiced in the media that the current president of Iran Mahmud Ahmadinejad is an advocate of Hojjatieh through the influence of his mentor, the Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, which some claim is currently the highest ranking member in the organization. An article in the New York Times suggested this was spread by his enemies to make Ahmadinejad appear more radical than he is.[1] Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi has denounced this claim, and has said that if anyone finds a connection between him and Hojjatieh, he will denounce everything he stands for.[2]

No it's not the best interest of Muslims to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear power (I won't say atomic bomb) because balance of power is needed in the region. A country in the region should balance the Israeli nuclear power and weapons. I know many hate this country to be Iran.

is it not in the best interest of Muslims to prevent Iran from acquiring an atomic bomb, to keep a possible first strike by Israel or it's allies from happening?
Well....As you can see they can't prove that Iran "intends" to possess a nuclear bomb "in the future". Isn't this similar to what happened to Iraq but where is the nuclear and chemical weapons? God only knows!!

If Islam is a religion of peace, what do mainstream Muslims think of a brother Muslim (Ahmadinejad) preparing to possibly start a chain of events that could kill millions or even hundred of millions around the world in an atomic conflict?
Proof?

1. The Mahdi is coming soon.
Shia agree on this statement…but no exact is available…exact time is not mentioned in the Narations of the Prophet and the 12 appointed Imams (prophet-like persons).

The Imam Mahdi is a direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.
Prophet Mohammed is his 10th grandfather, and his mother is His mother, is a daughter of Yashoa, the son of Caesar the King of the Romans, and her mother is a descendant of Shimeon the disciple of Jesus the son of Mary (sa).

4. He will appear suddenly.
Yes
5. A voice from the skies will announce his reappearance at the Holy Ka'ba in Mecca.
Yes. And will be followed by counter-voice supporting his enemies (Devil Act).
6. He will be joined by 313 of the most devoted, enlightened believers, who will pledge loyalty to him.
Yes
7. Only God knows the exact time of his appearance on earth, although some believe it will occur on a Friday ..
yes
8. The Mahdi will remain in Mecca for a while after his reappearance.
yes
9. He will then travel to Medina.
yes
10. Sofyani, an archenemy, will attack Syria and Iraq and commit great crimes against humanity in Iraq.
Yes.
11. The Mahdi will send troops who kill Sofyani in Jerusalem.
Mahdi will defeat the Sofyani.
12. Jesus will return and serve as the Mahdi's lieutenant or deputy.
Jesus will follow him in prayer….

13. The Mahdi will establish the seat of his global government in the city of Kufa.
yes
14. The earth will be filled with justice-a global government of peace and justice.
yes
15. Islam will be the pinnacle of faith. All will convert to Islam. It will be the one pure, lasting world religion, practiced by all.
yes
16. The world will experience astounding growth in science and technology .
yes

Excuse me but the last paragraphs describing the book, reveal that the book is nothing more than propaganda…
Shis Islam is a well established religion…based on reason..
Shia believe that Earth is already now full with chaos, and in order to hasten the Mahdi return they must prepare for his return…

Mahdi will change the world depending on people…not by miracles …
So Shia believe they should Spread Islam …educate people and make them ready to serve the mahdi…
Just ask one question …why Khomieni established an Islamic government…is it to spread Chaos or to spread Islam?

Wow, I found that so interesting. I am not muslim, so hope you don't mind the post, and though we see Jesus in a different light, I had no idea Muslims viewed Jesus this way.

The link you have quoted is about Al-Mahdi, not Jesus.

As far as the above mentioned 17 points, all these points are verified by the Hadith. The arrival of imam mehdi was confirmed by the Holy prophet. And there isn’t any evidence that imam mehdi belong to shia or any other sect. now if there is any sect who appreciate violence and chaos just to hasten the arrival of imam mehdi then its totally unfair, no Islamic and rubbish thing. Because each and everything is being decided by Allah. And it will happen on the exact time. If someone is creating chaos and terror and justify his actions as he is serving the Islam then he is instead serving the Satan. Because the teaching of Islam is universal. Islam will always be a religion of peace and there is no place of sectarianism and terrorism in Islam.
