self-transcendence is powerful

This could have been posted in several places since it touches on psychology as well as various religions and spiritual disciplines besides zen which is mentioned in the article.

What is particularly interesting to me is that science is showing what various religions have claimed about transcending the 'limited self' or ego. The article itself mentions zen but there are others who have noted the same phenomenon. And now scientific research is finding some interesting results.

The article gives some examples and concludes:

Ultimately, it’s fitting that we are most capable of achieving great things when we manage to transcend ourselves. Whether we’re holding someone’s hand on a plane or mopping floors here on earth, we’re at our best when we recognize that the world is much bigger than us.

Ultimately, it’s fitting that we are most capable of achieving great things when we manage to transcend ourselves. Whether we’re holding someone’s hand on a plane or mopping floors here on earth, we’re at our best when we recognize that the world is much bigger than us.
And the rubber really hits the road when we work together, as a team, towards common goals that will benefit the team and everyone else.
