Well, I can't agree that a stagnant economy is better. Without job growth, you run out of jobs.
Stagnant, or 'stable'? Nothing can grow forever. It's a finite planet.
The government needs to control rent or provide a plan of affordable housing or find a way to support homeownership

That depends. Who is becoming more affluent, and at who's expense?
Silicon Valley is very affluent, but not for everyone. Much of the population lives in cars or tents.
The Reagan revolution curbed a recession, and created affluence -- temporarily. In the long term it had the opposite effect. Study your history.

Without the regulation that existed during the period of America's post war golden age, corporations create stratification and wealth inequality; a tiny financial elite and a huge, largely impoverished working class.
That unrestrained capitalism causes poverty, displacement and homelessness?

So Seattle has unrestrained capitalism? Who's to blame?

I don't know Seattle's situation, but a lot of homelessness a result of unrestrained capitalism pricing people into poverty, and sometimes out of homes. The recent unrest? Fed up with poverty and police heavy-handedness to keep the restless masses in line?

When I was homeless, back in Denver the government provided technical training and shelter. They helped me get a job and an apartment. What is the city of Seattle doing?
Again, these big companies provide inferior jobs, with lots of workplace abuse, and because they get away with poor workplace conditions, they can afford to lowball better jobs out of existence. Gentrification removes jobs too, because mom-and-pop shops can't compete. So the unique local culture dies to crappy starbucks and amazon warehouses.

I'm all for social programs, but it's not enough. We need stricter workplace safety policies, a minimum wage that actually reflects livable wage, support for unions, and pursue Amazon like the monopoly it is.

Sure, I have a few ideas but it is mostly an issue for government.
We control the government. Our politicians are all liars and thieves because we are electing liars and thieves. And we're electing liars and thieves because we're not voting for the good of the whole country, we're voting just to get our own way. Our own advantage. The greed and selfishness begins with us.

I agree, with capitalism an area become more affluent. Affluency is not the problem. People getting left out of it is. I think this is only going to get worse. Capitalism work best if everyone becomes affluent together. However, we have human nature working against that. So we need regulation and enforcement which is where the government come in.

We need to work toward a government of common interest, something we have to choose but I don't know if we are capable of that. The voting of the majority is still subject to human nature.
