Screw the working world

Depressed as f right now. Been having issues with work and feeling more introverted as ever...have NO idea what to do in terms of finding a job that doesn't make me want to hide in a hole in the dirt.

Suggestions?

Not really. But whilst I am not much of a fan of my job, working with good people can make it bearable. Working with bad people will make even a decent job hard to get out of bed for. So maybe it's not so much the type of work that matters, but more the workplace environment?

I need to find a new part time job...but I find that most jobs require heavy socialising which I hate with a passion. Answering phones trigger my anxiety and job searching always makes me depressed.

Yeah, screw that!

I have a job, but I haven't received salary for 6 months now due to cash flow problems in the company due, further, to lacking in the construction sector for the last year or so, which is our field of work. But most of all, due to giving no regard by the company and the Ministry of Labor (it's a private sector company).

I wonder why I'm still not thinking of slapping myself senseless, run in public bottomless yelling (jihad) or something, vandalizing company's property (some did that), digging holes and back fill them for no reason, etc. Maybe I'm still sane because I'm not married and live with my parents (much less headache and expenses required)? Don't wanna think about it if my savings run out really (and they are about to).

I only need to finish 10 years of service (happens by the end of October 2016) and get out of here. I'll plan stuff to do with the end of service bonus + the delayed salaries. Maybe a shawurma store is a good idea. People love shawurma here. Or maybe buy a land with no services then sell it once the services come? This should increase the price well. Dunno.

It depends on your skills, experience and whether you’re looking for a job or a career. I could be wrong but it sounds like you’re looking at entry-level or basic jobs and these are generally either service roles (which aren’t your thing) or physical labour. Unfortunately, if it’s specifically part-time work you need, that will favour the service sector but things like factory, farming or building are probably areas to look in to for minimal human interaction.

Like pretty much everyone has to though, you will probably have to bite the bullet and accept jobs that are far from perfect if you want/need to work and to get the experience and background necessary to move on to the roles you’d prefer.

I have never been the career type and jobs kill me on the inside. There is no perfect job out there for me. I have just been making do since I entered the workforce and it depresses the hell out of me. The money makers I would be good at are ones that you don't get paid to do, you have sell to make money.

Yeah, me too! I wanna leave this place.

You don't know what shawurma is? It's one of the world's 65 (or something) affordable delicacies. Here, have some:

People here love to eat. I can take advantage of their gluttony and appetite and become rich.

We’re you after actual advice or just an opportunity to moan? There’s no perfect job for most people. Very, very few are lucky enough to get a job they really love doing (and lots of the people who claim to have done so are lying). You’re actually no different to the rest of us, work to live rather than live to work. I think you’d feel much better in yourself if you recognised and accepted that fact and made the best of it.

You are talking as if I didn't already know this. I accepted this fact when I got into the workforce after finishing high school. Doesn't make it any easier to swallow, especially when you have disorders that impact you when you are in the workplace.

The reason I posted can be seen in the first post. Depressed. Anxious. Looking for a new job. Looking for suggestions in regards to jobs that may or may not suit someone like me.

Oy vey. I'm not sure what to say Dgirl... What kind of things interest you? What kind of things make you feel good?

The type of things that interest me and make me feel good mentally are things like drawing, writing, crafting, etc. Jobs don't really exist for these types of things unfortunately. Not unless you are tailored to a specific kind of career like illustrating which is not something that there is much need for here. The job market is pretty quiet as it is.

That answers my next question which was what are the job opportunities like in you locale? Sadly, I am in much the same boat. I am a very good salesperson/manager but am no longer interested in that sort of thing. I'm much more interested in my writing projects... which don't earn a lot of capital due to the esoteric nature of my writing. @Windwalker would understand. Hehe. Like, let's be honest, not too many people are interested in a nunaced version of the idea of Oneness, LoL. :D:eek::rolleyes:

I dunno... I guess I have to go to my backup comments like, "Don't confuse your job with your career!" Sometimes, kind lady, we just have to suck it up and do things we had rather avoid to keep food in our bellies and the lights on low. If that makes you feel grim, don't despair - you're not alone. A phrase I came up with a week ago is, "I was never promised a rose garden. Now, I have many.":rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose:

From my island paradise..... There is hope.

If you like drawing, have you considered something like tattooing (and from what I've seen, you don't even have to be that good to do it)? Or maybe freelance writing? Perhaps you could make your crafts and sell them?
And, depending on where you live, it's not quick or necessarily easy money but collecting cans and stripping electronics down to the copper (and circuit boards if you can find a buyer) will bring in some money. But you'll definitely need to check local laws, because dumpsters, trash cans, and piles of stuff laying in alleys are prime sources for stuff to junk, and at least in the States it's not legal everywhere to collected discarded property. Universities also often have studies that will compensate participants, sometimes monetarily.
Just keep an open eyes to find ways to sell the things you do and are good at, and an open mind to realize what opportunities you may have. It's really hard when socializing isn't a strength or something you enjoy, and it may be that you need a "non-conventional" approach to income that doesn't revolve around the normal ideas of "getting a job."
