Scientific reason for not cutting nails at night

It is said that we should not cut nails at night. Is there any scientific reason of not cutting nails at night or any ritual reason?

Probably some very ancient wisdom, when they used to cut nails using a samurai sword
At night it is dark and you might cut of you finger, hand, head by accident
