And all the horny 13 year old boys would be asking for bathroom passes all day.

    (I know what you mean, I couldn't resist... I'm weak :D).

Until they're adults, children are always in submission to "The Man", be it their parents or their teachers. Besides, the little snots could use some discipline and regimentation. None of this bullying other kids for wearing the "wrong" brands.

The less submission the better, I say.
And I never saw any bullying over clothing brands.

I don't recall disputes about clothing back in my high school years...
Actually yes...a group of female nerds complained with the headmistress because - in their opinion- our female classmates used to wear s l u tty clothes...:p

There was a tv series called Beverly Hills 90210. It was about a group of beautiful young people and their trials, tribulations and dramas. Beverly Hills is a very rich and fashionable, fashion- and beauty-conscious city in California (actually I think it's part of LA ). Hence my spoof with Milano 90210.

Children should be granted freedoms as they prove to have matured enough to have them.
Times are different. Even during the ninties at a small rural school the "poor kids" were picked on for not wearing (over-hyped and over-priced) Air Jordans.

Not what I had in mind, but that could be a reason. I just think forcing gender differences in uniforms is unneeded.

Doesn't sound too bad. Especially when this:

Well..not necessary....given how undressed high school girls are nowadays...
    They do distinguish themselves...

I recall a girl being sent home to change for dressing too slutty in the first high school I went to. I felt bad for her. It was very embarrassing.

I think if there is any competition is school it ought to be academic, not fashion style or the amount of money spent on it.

Dressing themselves seems a good one to grant early on.
Kids will get picked on for something.
I advise dealing with the bullies rather
    than restricting the victims' choices.

They can choose what they wear outside of school. And really that's actually in their parents' hands, since they're the ones who approve of and purchase their clothing.

Of course bullies should still be dealt with. No one suggested otherwise and it isn't an either/or situation. Besides, the victims often don't have choice other than what their parents can afford, anyway.
