You're fighting a losing battle.
I've argued that Denmark is capitalist....Danes say
they're capitalist... but rightish & leftish partisans
here keep calling'm socialist. It's really odd.
I believe they used to be socialist decades ago. When they embraced capitalism their economy boomed.

I think that is more to do with the US definition of socialism; it appears to mean 95% to communism.
Whereas in Europe, socialism isn't used as a scare tactic. Socialism works with capitalism, all socialism means is more help for the less well off, more Government intervention.
Which isn’t actually socialism at all.

But that doesn't comport well with dictionaries.
And while "socialism" is a scare tactic term used by the right,
it's a whitewashing term used by the left. They use it to describe
places like Denmark, which are capitalist, but avoid more proper
examples like N Korea, Cuba, USSR, PRC, Venezuela.

I don't disagree that dictionary definitions are different BUT what I am saying is that in common usage it means something different. The Blair Labour Government was a capitalist endeavour but called socialism.

It is like the way lay people use the word 'Theory' compared to the meaning that scientists give it.

Incentives for female entrepreneurship in several Italian regions. That's still socialism
