Satan along with the variations of His name derives from many Sanskrit words. SANAT an anagram of Satan meaning: "always, from old, forever" and He's also referred to as: "Progenitor of Mankind." Through the "Satnam" mantra, we can see Satan is the name of God, which is explained in this thread: Jehovah means EVIL GOD in Hebrew while Satan means TRUTH in Ancient Sanskrit

    • Satan's name in different languages seem to have similarities as well. "Satanas" (Greek) or "Satana" (Italian) along with the "Satan" itself derives from "SATANAMA" which is a mantra: SA = Birth, TA = Life, NA = Death, MA = Rebirth - Theres also an ancient city in the East, where Sanskrit originated from, named "SATANA" - "Satan" is "Sayatana" in Bengali, which happens to be Sanskrit as well, meaning "together with, achieve, making efforts"
    • "Satang" in Khmer is similar to the Sanskrit word "Satsang" meaning "the wise, true company, highest Truth,"
    • In Tegulu "Saitana" or "Satanu" which also happens to appear in Sanskrit as "Satanu" (or Santanu) meaning: "having a body, together with the body, wholesome for the body or the person."
    • "Satan" is "Sattan" in Mayayalam which can be traced back: "Sat" means true essence, what animates all living things and supreme.
    • SAT causes existence and TAN is the force that causes evolution and metamorphosis. N is consonant with M which CAN bring in another Sanskrit word, which is "Sattama," meaning: "most virtuous, venerable, good."
    • In Estonian SATAN is SAATAN having ties with SATAAM meaning: "of virtuous people." Then we have SAYTAN in Kazakh, which can be seen as an anagram for "Saytan" (Satya, Sat) which is: "Truth, Of Truth, ultimate truth, unchangeable, that which has no distortion, ect."

    • In Portuguese "SATAN" is "SATA" (SA = Infinity and TA = Life) which happens to be connected to SATAH and SATAM (NOTE: M is consonant with N, hence Satam = Satan) as well as the number 100. Im Hinduism, Shiva in His Highest Aspect of God is the being of the perfected five elements, the divine androgynous God is called "SADA." This is SATA, the D and T are double letters. Showing that SATA is union of the soul (SA) and body (TA) which is unified together by the serpent energy which is called SATANAS, the so-called "Devil" is the serpent which brings eternal life and enlightenment. The Devil is a derogatory term for the word Devi

    • SATA has ties to Ancient Egypt. The prefix "SA" is called the life-giving word. Its said that if one inhales or exhales, it sounds as if they silently mention "S-A." This is the breathe which Satan gave humanity which is the "Spirit" or in Greek "Pnevma" which is the Soul.
    • The Ankh (Enki-Satan was sometimes referred to as Anki being pronounced the same way as ANKH) is also known as the "Djed" (associated with the Ptah, Enki's Egyptian Counterpart) and also SA which represents and signifies the Breath of Life, The Creation of Life and Eternal Life.
    • Its possible that Satan's female counterpart in Egypt is the Goddess known as "Satis" (aka Sate, Satet, Satji, Sati) Her name comes from the term SAT, which further shows the connection. Her name means "she who shoots forth" or "she who ejects out" or "she who pours out" which is Atum's (Ptah-Satan, Satanas) seed, representing him giving life. She is often shown with a Seba (star) on her head, holding the SA (Ankh) key or offering jars of purifying water which cleanses the dead so they might have Immortality.

Again, we can see the connection in Sanskrit: SATA = Eternal Life.

I'm curious what satanic group/ideology you'd align yourself with. When I see something like "Enki-Satan" it requires pause to discuss the source of the ideology.

I am non-religious, I simply presented facts. The connection that the Sumerian God Enki/Ea and Satan are the same being is made here:
"• Satan's name is also found in ancient Sumerian Hieroglyphs: IMG_3594 — Postimage.org
Enki was the leader of the Annunaki (SAT-AN) therefore He's God, and the "Genie Serpent" (SATA) is the energy of the soul, the Kundalini Serpent - which is the life force given to Humanity by God. "Genie" corresponds to the activated Serpentine Energy which brings one Eternal Life, reaching Godhead and the ability to have "God-like" powers. "Genie" also relates to "Jin" which guards and nurtures the "World Tree" (the soul). The Yazidis are sometimes referred to as "Children of the Jin," who is Melek Ta'us (aka Shaytan, Shaitan, Iblis) and they have associated Him with Enki, the wise Guardian of the Tree."

Remember that we can't be stating religious beliefs as facts! I'm also curious what organization you belong to, or at least what your sources are for these beliefs.

Will you at least openly deny any connection to Joy of Satan and their ideology?

I respect your spiritual-religious system, and would encourage you to continue embracing a theistic form of Satanism... however, there are a few things I wanted to say about Enki.

That image you posted was of Egyptian heiroglyphs, not cuneiform as we see in ancient Mesopotamia...

The name Enki comes from the words "en" and "ki". "En" is "lord", as we see in "En-lil", "Lord (of the) winds". The word "lugal" is often used for this, as "lu-gal" means "great man" ("lu" is "man", and "gal" is "great"), and describes a king, master, or lord. Nevertheless, "en" was used here. "Ki" means "earth" (it may have even had other meanings as well). The name "Ereshkigal" (Ereškigal) contains both "ki" and "gal", as well as "ereš"(which was a way of saying "nin", which describes a queen).

Regarding the word "lil" above... it is one of many homophones, meaning that although written or even pronounced the same, the word "lil" has many meanings, depending on the context. The word "nin", for example, means "queen", but can also mean "woman" or "sister".

Anyway, we get "En-ki", "Lord (of the) Earth". Usually, when we say "of the", you would see the ".ak" affix towards the end of the phrase. "Lugal Uruk.ak" might translate to "King of Uruk", but names of deities often simplify this. We get "Enki", instead of "en ki.ak" (This is not always the case. "Inanna" aka Ishtar most likely came from "nin an.ak"). Inscribed before their names, deities also usually have a determinative called "diĝir", which means "deity", and is also the cuneiform sign for "an" which means "sky" or "heaven"... and "Anu", who was a prominent heavenly father deity.

And finally, a Sumerian word for "life" is "til".

    _______

This is all just for you to be aware of and look into on your own, if you wish. It is not my Will to dissuade you from your current spiritual-religious system, but to maybe fuel the desire to expand your understanding of it some.

The ideology draws numerous comparisons to the JoS.

Be that as it may, he does not need to "openly deny any correlation to JoS".

If you feel you are aware of any historical evidence that contradicts any of the information he posted, I encourage you to bring it to light, as I did. In that way, he and the others reading this topic might expand their knowledge and understanding about these subjects and grow from where they are now.

    This old nonsense again?

The word SATAN doesn't exist in Sanskrit
    Sanaatan means eternal
    Satya means Truth

    Still waiting for proof.

Actual archaeologist, theologians, and philosophers all disagree with these assertions.

The name you attribute to the lord of the cult you get your "information" from comes from a term meaning antagonist. This is why I do not accept it as a term for my lord Lucifer.

    Someone beat me to it.

The idea that Satan has any equivalent either in name or linguistics in Sanskrit is so wrong it's painful for me to read. Actually looking over it more most of this etymology is just flat out wrong and can be refuted with about 5 minutes of research.

Some of us don't want people who trust in a neo-nazi sympathizing organization run by neo-nazi Christians masquerading as Satanism for the seeming purpose of waging magical/spiritual warfare against Jewish people to be posting their theology here. Naziism is inherently incompatible with Satanism: Satanism and Nazism: Some reasons why they aren't compatible

But back to the point of credibility, the OP's post is extremely reminiscent of the Joy of Satan, which has been called out quite a lot for their lack of any kind of sourcing for their claims leading to this kind of misinformation: An Open Letter To The Joy Of Satan
I have no affiliation with either of those sources, although I knew the author of the second link through regular online contact a few years back.

Satanism holds itself (or should/ pays lip service to it anyways) to a higher standard of intellectual honesty and free thinking. Satanism is about being open-minded and willing to accept new evidence so that one can adapt and grow as an individual. Without intellectual honesty there isn't individualization but rather one reflects the herd mentality that Satanism is opposed to. It's also why it's incompatible with Neo-Naziism which is inherently authoritarian and conformist, anti-individualist and oppressive. Anything that associates itself with Neo-naziism is categorically against the Left Hand Path and so doesn't belong here.

Add to that, it's kind of against the rules to promote any hate organizations and if this person is spouting their rhetoric even without sourcing it could be interpreted as against the rules. Now I am aware that there are splinter groups that use their general theology but without the hatespeech or neo-nazi sympathizing stuff, and if this is the case then I would think it's allowed so actually sourcing something like this is very important in this kind of case. If they are not assosiated with any of these kinds of things, or even a splinter group that denounces those neo-nazi aspects it would be even more important they dismiss our concerns least people mistakenly take their silence and failure to source as a confirmation.

    @Mandi

Unlike some, I not make attempts to force my definition of "Satanism" on others.

I hope you someday understand that "Satanism" is and can be many things, not just what one wants it to be.

Yeah yeah, I've had this conversation too! When something becomes anything the person wants/needs it to be, it becomes essentially Nothing.

No one will ever take neo-nazi Satanists seriously other than neo-nazi Satanists. Hell Neo-nazis hate them more than most Satanists oddly enough which should be saying something about how incompatible neo-naziism and satanism is.

Satanism can vary and be many things, but that doesn't mean that it's ****ing chopping up little kids or holocaust denial. The difference between you and me is I actually have studied this crap for many years and know what I'm talking about and unlike you I also don't try to defend straight up murder or crimes against humanity as legitimate forms of Satanism (ONA, neo-nazi ect). I know enough to state with intellectual honesty where there is double think and know what is nonsense and what isn't. Sure, JoS is technically a form of Satanism in a highly idiosyncratic way, but that doesn't mean it wasn't created as a front by a literal Neo-Nazi who is/was married to an important figure in the Neo-Nazi movement. What it means is, that anyone who believes in the JoS doctrine is either an idiot or living really far under a rock to not know or believe the truth about who founded the organization *and* a bigot who thinks Nazism wasn't that bad. The reason so many of us are deriding it is because not only do we find the JoS abhorrent for these reasons, but because we recognize how many elements of the JoS are inherently incompatible with the Left Hand Path and Satanism in general. How they do it is by doublespeak. It's only by lip service that they are Satanists, their actions speak as if they are not. When 90% of their rhetoric is in direct contradiction of the 10% that claims to hold Satanic values it falls flat on it's face. Because it was never meant to be serious but rather a front/tool for the gullible. The JoS was literally founded by a Christian. How much more fake can it get than that?

The JoS nor their teachings belong on this forum or DIR. It violates not only the rules but the spirit of the entire community. Nor do they have any place within Satanism, given that it was all made up by a Christian (which was a well reported and investigated fact over a DECADE ago) for whatever neo-nazi ends (either to curse Jews as is my theory or as some have suggested over the years recruit kids into neo-nazism for when they bounce back from Satanism to Christianity).

Any good sources regarding the etymology of Satan? This seems to be some compelling evidence regarding truth behind Satanism, but sources would do it justice.

These are two circles that often do not overlap, but in some instances, can and do. You may not like it and I am not encouraging you to like it, but it is what it is.

The vast majority of Satanists do not engage in human sacrifice, for obvious reasons. I do not perceive that particular act as something that has any bearing on whether or not one is a Satanist, unless you have some particular form of Satanism in mind that is completely against it.

My spiritual-religious system has a neutral stance regarding those crimes. I do not encourage them, nor do I discourage them. There are potential benefits, there are potential consequences, I feel one should be mindful of these things if considering such choices.

Also, I feel those things really have no bearing on whether or not one is a Satanist. There are many forms of Satanism; some might choose to embrace and explore areas of human Nature that others choose to supress.

I disagree. I am not for or against JOS, but I encourage them as well as you to embrace and evolve Satanism in a way that complements your Weltanschauung and True Will.

Does anyone else here think that Satan was originally a Proto-Indo-European deity? There is some evidence that points towards it, such as the semi-false cognates between Romantic and Eastern languages like Sanksrit. There are some Indo-European myths involving dragons, bearing similarities to those of surrounding religions. I think there's a good possibility that "Satan" was the central intellectual wind deity in their pantheon when the Indo-Europeans were in Ukraine. Satan became Wotan and then Odin in the North, Ea in the South, and Satang in the East.

Now, what is really quite amusing is the fact that Satan became the word for "adversary" in Hebrew, while a variation meant "truth" in Sanksrit, which is an Indo-European language.

I know this sounds like some JOS bull****, but really, the more I piece together of this, the more interesting this becomes.
