I have absolutely no idea about Satanism. Can a practicer help me because I would like to learn about this religion so I won't be so ignorant. What do you practice? What is your worship like? Who do you worship? What do you refer to as your sacred text?? I just need a beginners version.

    Thank you,

In my own words?:p Satanism just accepts the biblical God to be an evil entity and the concept of satan is just another ally to complement his agenda. Satanism is a very intriging concept, although there are some devil worshipers who "get off" on doing evil things such as killing and hurting others. But if I were to choose the God of the bible or Satan to worship, I sure would have a tough time arriving at a decision.:p :cover: I have to admit that the God of the bible is NOT a loving creator like many Christians portray him to be unfortunately. To this very day, I really wonder how anyone could believe this book to be worth anything to live a life by, in other words, there are people out there who live by the "word" when it is SO depressing. I don't want to say that I'd rather sin and live a life of sin because those things that invollve sinning are fun, but uhhhh, that God is so contradicting it's not even funny. Uhhhhhh thou shall not kill, but uhhhh, those who disobey HIM shall be put to death even THOUGH we were born to sin BUT we are born....in other words God said....."Let us make man in our image, after our likeness", WEEEELlllllllll:angel2: , he was surely right because many of us sin, hehehehehehe....although some of us DO get it and try to abide by HIS rules but he is TOO much of a contradicting entity.)( :slap:

Err, I think you've got things mixed up here. Satanism by itself is a secularist belief that only concerns the self and most satanist don't believe in supernatural beings. there are theistic satanists but they don't worship anything, they liken themselves to Satan and/or Lucifer but don't do things like pray and think of the two more of a Prometheus character. The left hand path, means self improvement.

I'm a theistic Luciferian and I pray, but it probably doesn't resemble any kind of prayer that a Christian would think of. Sincere prayer isn't really much different from meditation, if you ask me. Worship isn't really seen the same way Christians tend to see it either. It's not about submitting for us.

Of course, I'm not a Satanist anymore. I'm just trying to clear up any confusion.

That's what I thought but, to me and I think this applies to a great number of people as well. Prayer is the act of appealing to a higher power for assistance or forgiveness, neither of which I could see a satanist doing. Maybe pray for some kind of clarification or understanding but then again I would think one would do that through meditation in trying to understand things instead of asking somebody else to do it. As for worship I always thought of that as someone groveling like a dog at there masters feet begging to be noticed by needlessly thanking and praising constantly, both of which I find distasteful. I guess worship in a left hand path ideology would be appreciation of being here and having the chance to influence the world, better or for worse. But then words like appreciation and meditation seem much more applicable to what people of the left hand path do.

You've basically got that right. That's why we avoid words like prayer and worship. It's a matter of connotation. People have certain ideas about those words already and I find those ideas pretty much distasteful. I would never bow down to anyone and I'd never ask for something I can do for myself. If I did, I doubt Lucifer would claim me as one of his own...lol.

Yeah, to think and act for yourself is what any higher power would want I think. If I were a god I certainly wouldn't be interested in wasting my time "baby sitting" the masses.

    Okay.

A semi-nihilist carnal philosophy of self-assertion and vital existence along with an applied form of psychology.

Worship is virtually non-existent in left-hand path religious thought. I worship life, nature and, most importantly, myself. Hail Me!
Worship of oneself is practiced through rejecting mainstream dogmas of altruism and egalitarianism and focusing on yourself and your close friends and family before falling prey to the notion that you need to sacrifice everything to everyone. This is not to say Satanism is about being a sociopath, but more placing one's self as top priority.

Nothing is sacred except for life itself.

    Welcome.

    I have a question.

How closely related is Maltheism, Satanism, and Luciferianism?

Some Luciferian and Satanic theists are maltheists. However, most like-minded Luciferian or Satanic theists are probably more likely to follow the general "God isn't malevolent, but rather is simply apathetic." That's just my guess of course.

Oh, and you're quite welcome Hannah.

I would consider myself a maltheist and I'm genuinely surprised that Ian feels most theistic LHPers wouldn't be. In fact, it's hard to imagine being LHP and not find God disgusting.

For those that follow the Left Hand Path, and are not maltheists, what reasoning do they give for this decision?

It might be that they don't believe the Christian God is real at all and don't even worry about it. I know some like this.

Of course. I actually think that's the case with most LHP. I had assumed rojse was still talking about theists.

I would suggest you read the Satanic Bible, if you want to understand Satanism. I thought what Anton taught in the Bible was more enlightened that what Satanists now practice.

Okay, you're going to have to explain that because it makes no sense.
