Please Note: The title of this thread is, of course, intended to make a point. I think anyone who thinks that point is exaggerated, or that the sarcasm is misleading, might at some point in the near future be appalled at the recent polling from Pew and other sources that seems to indicate an emerging majority of Americans appear to take a dim view of violent insurrection and those who have a hand of any sort in it.

At any rate, I haven't paid attention recently to what's going on in right wing media, because I had a hunch there might be a few more accurate and reliable sources for current events. But this morning my attention was caught by a left wing opinion and commentary channel on YouTube -- a channel I normally watch even less often than I check out a Fox video.

I tried a few search combinations in the hope of finding an unedited video of Tucker Carlson's recent show that the commentators were playing clips from, but I couldn't find one. Maybe Fox hasn't yet posted an unedited clip. Or maybe someone else can find one. It could be interesting to see.

What I did find were the three videos below from various left wing opinion and commentary channels. For those of you who don't know, Tucker Carlson is currently the Fox Network's most popular program host, and I believe he might be a fairly good indication of how seriously the Network is taking the insurrection. That's to say, it seems to be 'dismissing' the nature, meaning, and importance of it.

    Comments?

By the way, here's a link to some recent Pew polling...

It is not uncommon to hear Whataboutisms, False Flags, and No True Scotsman thrown about as a way to justify their support for Trump. I personally have seen in it happen in my circles. Fact Check sites, Republican governors and Secretaries of States, and AGs, courts with judges Trump appointed, his Judges on the Supreme Court, even foreign news agencies are now part of the conspiracy to deny him a second term. This is a complete decoupling from reality.

I was impressed by Tucker Carlson's vehemence.

They are animals, and I say that at risk of someone pointing fingers at me. I'd sooner trust a blind, hungry tiger.

Mr. Carlson sits in his private studio spouting hateful garbage. The hypocrisy is off the scale for someone like him to imply that AOC has led a sheltered life. How many times has he mocked her for being a bartender? What has Tucker ever done but spout garbage on TV? This man has no concept of what life is like for most people.

Cortez had very legitimate reasons to fear for her safety, for her life. But she represents the “other side” so no empathy for her. But when Sarah Hucklabee was politely asked to leave a restaurant that was a tragedy.

I don't watch Tucker Carlson or Fox News myself. In fact, I don't even have cable TV anymore, just cable internet and a Roku box - along with whatever I can pick up on my tin can antenna.

But there is a Fox News radio affiliate which I occasionally listen to while I'm in the car. There's a local commentator in the morning who is a real piece of work - not famous enough to have a national show like Rush or Hannity, but he seems like quite a zealous wannabe.

Just a question: Did you mean to say that Fox "reigns" in lies, as if they're the reigning champion in lies? Or was it "reins" in lies, meaning that they're trying to be more responsible, which would fit with the following clause about showing restraint?

I think Tucker Carlson is a troll. When people react wildly to his crap, they're feeding the troll. Nothing irritates the troll like being ignored. Tucker should be ignored.

I only saw the 1st video so far, but it seems to me that Carlson is identifying the appeal to emotion that AOC was focusing on as "laughable".

I don't know when it's acceptable to appeal to emotion or not, or if it's entirely subjective to the individual, but I think there are a lot of people who feel uncomfortable with it's use by politicians. I think a lot of people prefer prehaps a stronger tone from politicians.

Can you explain to us how you understand the difference between “appealing to emotion” and simply expressing an emotion? Or do you not understand the difference?

Politicians and many commentators appeal to emotion all the time. Most people do as well from time-to-time.

My problem is with the emotion that people appeal to, rage for example, and to the fact-free way it's done.

Empty Suit Carlson's opinions are for sale, so if he seems to be identifying something its not him but whoever is paying him and who doesn't want to personally say what they think on camera. He's a tool.

I've never seen his show, so I can't tell if he believes what he says or if he's a parrot.

Hmm, so Fox is backing down a bit, eh?
When they called the election, because I suppose they had no choice, I swear they were being accused of being “liberal media” by the MAGA crowd. Which was odd to see, even for an outsider. Because everyone and their grandmother knows how conservative leaning they are at all times.

It's inexplicable that, if the Left is as violent as Tucker Carlson says it is, that no one has bashed in his face yet.

Sorry for misleading you. I have added to the thread title to clarify that it is intended sarcastically. If you watch the videos you will see Tucker Carlson lash out at AOC with a emotionalism and vehemence that arguably could be described as 'mouth-frothing hatred'. In my book, that's not 'showing restraint' -- not even after 1/6. I can only reasonably conclude that Carlson -- and most likely Fox -- are still intentionally trying to gin up fear, hatred, and violence in America even after the start of an arm insurrection against the Government and people.

Oh, I held for a split second a modicum of respect for Fox. That has since fled. Guess that’ll learn me to actually pay attention to any cited videos

One of the main reasons I can't watch FOX is because it's obvious how hyped-up all the rhetoric is. I know they cater to a specific target audience, and it's just a big turn-off for me, literally... I turn it off.

...But it's the same thing for me with CNN. Just the opposite demographic.
