This is/was a UK production from 1979. Amazon Prime Video (included). Available elsewhere for $$.

I only started watching, because David McCallum was in it, and the era.

It's actually quite good, not unlike a kind of SciFi ghost story. It's episodic, meaning each episode segues into the next, serial-wise. I'm told this is classic BBC style, but rather different to this Yank.

I'm on episode 4 already, and I only started this morning.

I loved this series when it first came out - I was about 15, so I'm pretty sure it was Joanna Lumley that got my attention rather than David McCallum. Budget sets and very limited special effects, but they did a pretty good job with they had.
