I don't know why, but I just remembered this poem I wrote a while back in a thread here at RF. I thought I'd share it with those of you who don't peruse the Food and Drink forum:
A Vegetable Sandwich has Little Appeal
by 9-10ths Penguin, inspired by England my lionheart
A vegetable sandwich has little appeal
But it's yummier than the whole wheat and eel
Taste's relative - it's a matter of feel
That a vegetable sandwich has little appeal
A vegetable sandwich has little appeal
"Not by bread alone!" is what they all squeal
So will you dispute what the Gospels reveal:
That a vegetable sandwich has little appeal?
A vegetable sandwich has little appeal
But it doesn't have any grease to congeal
That bacon's effect on your heart is surreal
So, that vegetable sandwich might have some appeal
A vegetable sandwich has little appeal
And yes, usually, there's some meat in a meal
But throw in some cheese and it's close to ideal
Then that vegetable sandwich has lots of appeal!
The Manna from heaven comes without leaven
For the leaven is added by priests
But the bread from above that I eat out of love
Is not polluted with yeast
On God’s word do I dine which I wash down with wine
As I wait here on earth in this prison
And the wine it is said that I drink with my bread
Is the wonderful wine of God’s wisdom..............By S-word.
