Just read about it. I'm no atheist/skeptic or stuff but as my faith has taught me, a true Christian never rejoices over a death of someone. RIP and I just want to say a blessing to him: Through the merits of our prayer, let the fire of the Holy Spirit bestow upon him. May God forgive him for any errs that he may have committed. We humbly pray that You may receive him into your loving arms. This we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

May Christ, our true God, have mercy upon the soul of Christopher, and remember him in eternity. Memory eternal.

I think Hitchens view of the world should be respected.

Although I didn't agree with his lurch to the right after 9-11 I think he contributed much to free thought and his legacy will passed on to all free thinkers.

While I can appreciate the kind gesture you are putting forth, I would imagine that Hitchens would in no way want the prayers or forgiveness for what he was honest with himself about. As an atheist if God can't accept me for being honest with myself then he isn't moral and if I need to be forgiven for being honest to myself... Then God help us all:cool:.

With that said, Hitchens I will certainly miss you and I respect you for dying believing what you felt to be true and for sticking to it til the end in spite of any of the fears religion has thrown your way. If he went to hell, he went to hell a hero as far as I am concerned and with the courage of a lion.

I appreciated him as a thinker and a persuasive writer. I appreciated less the all-too-often disrespectful and inflammatory manner in which he expressed his thoughts and the angle of his persuasion.

i liked how he rocked the boat without any apology because he stood with the courage of his convictions and made no unsupportable claims...

to some he may have been disrespectful...but honesty is to be respected
what's disrespectful is ambiguity and christopher hitchens was not.

When Christopher Hitches died, his book God is not Great was trending on twitter, so a bunch of Christians threatened to kill the people that were making it trend, and kill people at Twitter for allowing it. So twitter banned it from the trend list.

Ironically, it proved the premise of his book right.

    Good riddance.

In Hitchens view there is no afterlife so I am sure he is not resting and not in peace. He also wouldnt mind if someone spat on his grave would he?

He was responsible for blood libel against the religious Jews in Israel making numerous false claims against the religion and state.
