Glad you like to learn. But remember to be a buddhist is not only meditation. And you should also look in to the teaching/ sutta and you cn find a lot of it online. I have used 20 years of my life to change how i used to be, and still i do wrong from time to time :)

And as i answered in an other post, i used 5 years of my life even before i took the vow of becoming a buddhist. So yes you can learn meditation without converting to buddhism, but if that is what you really wish, then take your time to study and understand what the teaching say. Then you also need to ponder about why do te teacing say what it do, what does it mean,

But start with the meditation then see what you learn from it. Most important is to learn about you self and who you trully are :)

Suffering and death is part of life and existence. I'm not going to place a value judgment on something that it is intrinsic. I don't see existence as a negative thing, as you apparently do. It just is. Lifeforms feed on other lifeforms to live and humans are apex predators. My cat doesn't worry herself over it, so there's no reason for me to. I'm not going to shame myself for simply being alive. That's useless and negative.

I have still not taken my New Year's Resolution, there are 6 hours to go that I can change my mind following the scary thought that I need to take a vow to becoming a Buddhist.

The term "meditation" has wide ranging meanings for err... schools of teaching.

So what do you consider "meditation" to be, how do you achieve that state, and what is your goal?

The mediation i do is called Vipassana or insight meditation. and teached in Buddhism.
I know there are many who does practice this in a very wrong way, and they have no had a teacher who new what they was talking about, But for my part i learned it in a buddhist temple.

Insight meditation as in the word is to attain inner wisdom about the spiritual path that buddhism is, and it meditation empty your mind so all this is left is this moment only. We do not cling to past or future anymore. But live only in this moment that we experiences.
So the effect is no stress, no unnessesary thoughts, no hate or anger.

One of the big problem with the socalled Mindfulness classes is that they do not teach propper technique to actually gain true meditation.

Personally i have meditated 20 years and does not directly need to sit down to do meditation, it has become a part of me, so i am living only in this moment (focuses on only what do now)

If i was to write how to learn insight meditation i would have to send you a book :)
Because it is no just closing your eyes and breath in slow, then breath out slow. :)

The file is only a introduction to medittion but it help one undertand how serious one must take the practice

    WOW.

Now THAT is the kind of answer I dearly wish the Christians would give me instead of their endless games of non-answer avoidance.

So THANKS for giving me an honest straight forward answer!

Sounds like a worth while endeavor.

It makes me feel lucky though, as I've had those qualities ever since coming back from my NDE/OBE as a child and being given many spiritual gifts, including the true Spirit of God that makes me aware of all of my actions and keeps them in accord with God's true spiritual nature, his laws, his plan for all souls. So I don't have to spend so much time "working" to attain those qualities.

    I wish you complete success!!!

You misunderstand. I'm in no need of instruction, I am just trying to understand you and your beliefs a bit more, that's all. God has already shown me how to silence my mind and connect with the spiritual abilities of my soul. And it's second nature to me now. But thanks for being helpful just the same.

Eph.4:5 teaches there is only one faith. Jude 3 uses the term "the faith" which I understand refers to the "one faith" and Jude 3 teaches we are to ''earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints"
    God bless

There was only one faith that God wanted us all to turn to during the Dispensation of Jesus Christ.

    That is why....
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

God has already shown me, I have already experienced such and such state, I know more then others because of (Fill in the blank).

All people have powerful experiences. Experiences that move them. If this experience closes you off from all other humans and you are the only source of truth you are by definition already wrong. You are overthinking the answer.

I'll be the first to say that religions in general have a great deal in common and a lot of the differences are cosmetic.

But I'd be a fool if I stopped there. Religions make truth claims, and those truth claims conflict. Religion A says X and Religion B says Y and X and Y are opposites, they cannot possibly be both true. Thus, either A is wrong or B is wrong or both A and B are wrong.

Thus it only makes sense to say that of the various world religions, one is going to be closer to the truth than the others. It doesn't mean there won't be truth in the others. It doesn't mean that people won't be blessed by following other paths. I'm just saying that logically you have to admit that one religion will get it more right than the others.

All religions are right and fit into the grand scheme of things, right doesn't mean true or that they've got the lock on what is and isn't. Everyones ****in lost honestly.

I believe Buddhism will not get a person eternal life. It could help a person eliminate sin in his life but not as well as having Jesus as Lord and Savior.

I believe God is everywhere so there is no way to box Him in. However eternal life only has one door and one person who can open it.

I believe that would be a different god then because Jehovah has attributes.
