And recruiting "soldiers" by an emotive analogy to Christians in the time of Nazi Germany who stood by (Nevile Chamberlin was mentioned) while Jews were taken to slaughter. He made the point that those Christians who stand by while the 10 Commandments, prayer, and the Bible are taken from public schools are the Chamberlins of today. The "waring pasor" is on tour. He spoke at a gathering in Canton Ohio with Ohio gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell by his side. This tour is sponsered by the Ohio Restoration Project, and the World Harvest Church in Columbus pastored by the Rev. Rod Parsley . First, as Austine Kline points out http://atheism.about.com/b/a/240666.htm?nl=1
If there is any connection to be drawn, however, it’s exactly the opposite of what Johnson claimed. First, the Jews weren’t slaughtered in a society where the Ten Commandments and Christian references had been removed from public spaces. On the contrary, the Ten Commandments were engraved prominently at the Palace of Justice complex in Nuremberg, the place where the anti-Jewish Nuremberg Laws of 1935 were first established.

Moreover, Christians weren't meekly silent when the Jews were slaughtered — they actively helped in every way they could. The Nazi Party identified itself as a Christian party and promoted a vision of “positive” Christianity. Most of its leaders promoted Christians beliefs and encouraged Christian piety.

Second, does anyone think there is not a "secular jihad" being conducted by some Christians? And are not some Christians more aptly comparetively critized as Chamberlin-like?

To answer both question. Some Christians, yes. But in a state that has been economicaly mismanaged by both a Republican lead legislature and Republican Govenor for so long, such smoke-screen politics are wearing thin with Ohio voters.
