    Hi all,

After wrestling with it and its general incompatibility with mainstream Islam for quite a while now, I have finally decided to renounce my Gnosticism and embrace a more world-affirming view of life and a more generally mainstream view of Islam (though with the odd difference from the mainstream and a progressive line).

In case anyone is vaguely interested!

I prefer to consider gnosticism as aspects of a belief as having limited esoteric understanding and beliefs, and not a practical realistic belief system itself.

Thanks for your interest. Well, my former Gnosticism was one which rejected the creator of the material world as being essentially evil and it was always very difficult squaring that with the typical view that Allah/God is the Creator of the material world (I never rejected Allah's Supremacy, the Qur'an, or the Prophethood of Muhammad, pbuh).

Which is perhaps why I always thought of myself as a Gnostic Muslim previously.

Were you born a Muslim or are you a convert?

A convert of reasonably long standing (couple of decades). Why do you ask?

I understood that Gnosticism is the first all is method of personal connection with God. Our world is not evil but just a place where what we do , good or evil, can be manifested.

What, in your view, makes that method Gnostic?

God is spirit and connection can be only achieved in spirit.

So how does one make that connection in spirit?

It happens in two ways either God reveals to you or you come to God, e.g. through meditation, in ancient times initiation. Some say entheogens but I am skeptical of purity of such way.

How does that differ from non-Gnostic ways of communing with/relating to God?

I don't think all non-Gnostics are bound by (unchanging) holy books when it comes to communing with God, though.

    Hello @The_Fisher_King ,

I am quite interested in reading more about your journey. What ever you choose to share ...

More specifically, I am curious about the new identifier "Hedonistic". Also, what elements contributed to this shift away from Gnostic Islam?

Extremely rare. Gnostic way opens one's mind on what Scriptures say.
