Hey you guys, I'm looking for a book on religion that is both balanced and unbiased. One that does not argue for a specific point of view but offers PLENTY OF EVIDENCE. Thanks!
Among the best books on religion in general is Huston Smith's "The World's Religions". It's an overview of the major religions, and it's as fair, balanced, and unbiased as you can get.

"How we believe" by Michael Shermer and here is why.
1) He is agnostic that says the existance of God is insoluable. No for or against..just says it is unknownalbe. He is neutral.
2) He presented theories put together by he and the skeptics socieity. A group in America that acts as a thinktank to present theories and disprove existining theories with emperical evidence
3) The book isn't about a particular religion though religions are used as examples, goes over the broader topic of why man has the propensity to believe various theories.
The Phenomenon of Religion by Moojan Momen.
ISBN 1-85168-161-2
It describes many aspects of religions, using several in-depth examples, as they are believed and practiced. The issues of whether there is a God, and which religion might be "the" truth, are completely ignored. I really love this book.
