So I tripped over this in a FB page I follow...

Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a huge steak. But all of Bubba’s neighbors were Catholic, and since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating red meat on Friday.
The delicious aroma from the grilled steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest.
The priest came to visit Bubba and suggested that he become a Catholic.
After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass. The priest sprinkled holy water over him and said, “You were born a Baptist and raised as a Baptist, but now you are Catholic.”
Bubba’s neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived and the wonderful aroma of grilled steaks filled the neighborhood. The priest was called immediately by the neighbors.
As the priest rushed into Bubba’s yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement.
There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water, which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat while chanting, “You wuz born a cow, you wuz raised a cow, but now you are a catfish.”
That folks, is religion in a nutshell...
I'm sure there will be fallout on my reply...

This folks, is ignorance of what "religion" is.
Not all religion is rooted in Abrahamic dogma.
    Know your nutshell.
What would you say in response to this?

Putting religion in a nutshell is trite, due to the level of variation within that particular 'bucket'.
It's fair to say the initial part of your post is chuckleworthy, but it's not particularly insightful about religion in any holistic sense.

    I did, too.

I think @SalixIncendium may have just created a religion for squirrels.

When it comes down to it, no one has all the answers, despite how much they think they do.

I guess that makes us all nuts.

Don't confuse Biblical truths with religion's rules.
It is actually a good thing for our religion to be rooted in the truth.

Buddha never coked. He begged for his food once a day after the lunch time so that people will give him from the left-overs.
Of course, there is no evidence for anything claimed.

When he lived with his family, there were other people to cook for him. After all, he was a son of a village chief (at least if not the son of king having a large principality, Kapilvastu or Piperhawa, a village in India which has claims of being the birth place of Lord Buddha. It is one of the eight oldest 'Stupas', where ashes of Lord Buddha were interred). Then his mother and his wife. When he became an ascetic, he begged for food. :)

    Indeed, the joke was funny.

But it was on one of the science pages I follow and the "religion in a nutshell" generalization at the end was intended to smear religion as a whole. Clearly the individual posting it has limited knowledge of religion.

Not the religion I would choose.

Pure religion [religious worship] and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
