The rejection of Islam.

Over the years that I have left Islam my mind has become more and more convinced that Islam is a downright fabrication. In fact I have come to regard it as one of the greatest cons in the history of man. On par with Mormonism when it comes to how downright silly the whole thing is.

With that being said why not invite Muslims to defend their own brand of loony with their own arguments. In return I will be posting some of the reasons I have rejected Islam and will more than likely continue to do so. If you also reject Islam feel free to post why. If we can I would like to avoid “Muslims do violence therefore Islam is wrong.” thing. We’re attacking Islam not Muslims even though plenty of them could be held accountable for numerous offenses.

I’ll also post this

He has an intro and a short silly skit thingamawhosit so if you want to just skip straight to the arguments 2:25 is the right time to go to in the video.

1. The Quran’s scientific mistakes.

Despite what many muslims claim the Quran has numerous scientific errors. If the Quran was dictated to Muhammad by God there shouldn’t be any. In the video he lists a couple but here is another one. This Is actually often used to try and defend Islam but ends up backfiring if the person they are talking to knows anything about embryology.

2. The character of Muhammad

So according to the story of Muhammad getting a message of god entails but is not limited to

Extreme pain

Suicidal tendencies

drool

pretty much every symptom associated with epilepsy known to man.

He murdered people , had sex with a nine year old girl, came up with very convenient revelations ect.

3. When putting the quran together they didn’t even know what order it went in.

If you read the story behind the Quran actually being written down and put together it becomes blatantly clear that these people had no clue what they were doing. They couldn’t remember what order the surahs were revealed in so they just went in order of length,

4. Contradictions in the Quran
A few listed in the video and here is a link to some more
Contradictions

5.contradictions with Judaism , Christianity and the bible.

I could go for more but I think the video and all this will work for now. Though I would like to say the biggest reason it’s pretty clear to me that Islam isn’t true is simply that there is no evidence Islam is true.

I would reiterate and amplify the request (not the first time I've made it):

Dear Muslims, If you strip away common-sense and non-original ideas like "charity is good", what positive things can we learn from Islam? I have struggled to find "the good bits".

The way Allah is described in the Quran, that is not good news, that is almost the worst possible news. While the Quran claims that Allah merciful, most of the Quran - if you believe what it tells you - demonstrates that Allah is not merciful. Quite the opposite, Allah is cruel and petty and vindictive.

- stunted views on human sexuality
- unenlightened thinking about slavery (treat them good, but it's still ok to have slaves... wtf?)
- inherent inferiority complex
- founder likely suffered from several mental illnesses
- a scripture that is incredibly boring to read to the non-believer
- hatred and contempt to the non-believer for daring to disagree with Muhammad's revelation

and finally...

- the Rodney Dangerfield of all religious leaders. The poor fellow craved respect and recognition (as THE prophet of God) which became the cause for a lot of his misfortunes.

I think you should read these books:
The gist of what they say is:
  • Muhammad never existed.
  • The Quran is a compilation of heretical Christian texts of various sectarian origins composed primarily in Syria during the VIth and VIIth centuries.
  • The Hadith-based Islam that we know today is a fabrication engineered by the Abbasids when they took power in the 750s.
  • Before that date, ther was no "Islam", just a variety of "monotheistic" sects which had been able to develop in a particularly dynamic manner in the void left after the collapse of the Sassanian Empire in the 630s and the takeover of Byzantium's eastern provinces by Arab warlords after the Byzantine-Sassanian war.

That is certainly an interesting idea. IT is true that a lot of what muslims take for fact is pretty much non existent though I've rarely heard Muhammad's existence questioned it is one that I sometimes have a hard time believing. Even if he did exist (similar to even if jesus existed) it's almost impossible to know what he actually taught.

I think that, like Jesus, Muhammad is a composite character, made up of a certain amount of real annecdotes about real people (some regional holy men in the VIth-VIIth century Middle East) and a hefty dose of invented narrative material.

There is a good case to be made that the word "muhammad", meaning "the chosen one" instead of "the praised one" in certain east-Aramaic dialects, was initially an epithet of Jesus. Then it became a proper name among certain non-mainstream Christian groups (probably in Mesopotamia) and finally was retroactively declared to be the name of the "Prophet" of Islam when the new Hadith-based orthodoxy was established in Abbasid times. All this more or less comes from the books mentioned in my earlier post.

Well I mean if you read the quran you can clearly see the Aramaic words. Well unless you are a fanatical muslim who wants to scream about the quran being in perfect Arabic.

The question to me is what the appeal of Islaam would be.

It seems to offer little more than a way to somewhat ward off clashes with Muslims, presumably nearl always from one's own family.

I mean, come on. Tribal values, union against one's only barely human enemies, blind submission to a particularly coarse god-concept, confused and contradictory ethics.

I guess it could be temporarily useful if one has not learned of religion and is particularly troubled. Maybe.

It is not like it ever had a shot at "being true", either, although such a consideration is a very odd fit for a doctrine that purports to be a religion.

Indeed.

May I ask about your background in general terms (country of birth, age, branch of Islam, current country of residence, education)

Personally, I am French, now residing in India for business purposes, 48 years old, education in Science (PhD in Computer Science), studied history of religions as a hobby for the past 20 years. Non religious (I do not like the word "atheist").

It seems you got your information from answeringislam&co , this website is known for misinterpreting quran verses and narrations, they also use fabricated narrations.
If you are going to refute Islam it would be logic and more honest to quote authentic islamic sources and criticize those. This way we can have an honest discussion.
You post your own interpretation of what you think Islam is and based on that you reject 'Islam'
I don't expect you to agree with Islam but like I said if you really want a honest discussion try talking about what we muslims really believe instead of making things up like number 1,2,3,4 and 5 basically everything.

No I got my information from being a muslim for a number of years. Reading the hadith the quran ect. Look the ultimate reason to reject Islam is because it has no evidence period. It's so clearly fabricated it hurts my head to think anyone takes it seriously. Your book is full of contradictions, it's full of obvious bull**** and yet you persist in following it to the end. I would be lying if I said I found this anything short of ridiculous.

Did Muhammad have sex with a 9 year old? If you say no you are rejecting Bukhari. Did Muhammad have symptoms of epilepsy? If you say no once again you have issue with the hadith. If you are going to say he didn't murder people, once again hadith. If you are going to say the quran doesn't contradict itself i'm not sure what there even is to say to you. I've had so many discussions with muslims where eventually I just have to drop the subject because it's so clear they aren't listening.

They just reaffirm over and over again that islam is true and everything else is just misquotation. IT doesn't matter how many Qurans you show them, it doesn't matter if you pull out your big book of Hadiths , it doesn't matter what you say. They refuse to accept it. Did you even watch the video? For God's sake the guy puts up sources for everything.

For some people, Sakeenah, the sources they use make no difference. They have absolutely no interest in learning anything factual about your beliefs. They just want to make other people despise your religion as much as they do, and the end, unfortunately, justifies the means. If you think you can actually change that by trying to have a civil discussion with them, think again. These same types do this with my religion, too. After nearly 12 years on this forum, I have learned to simply ignore them. If you fail to feed them, even trolls will go look elsewhere for food.
