The word was derived and coined when a coalition of tribes banded together to protect the Kaba before Mohammad (s) came and cherish it and maintain it.

The Quran has a verse "and they were not it's awliya, it is only the Guarding/Cautious ones that it's awliya"

Awliya is plural of Wali and Wali is always contextual defined. In this context, it means the relationship they felt the had with the Kaba as it's protectors, cherishers, maintainer, guardians, etc, all included.

According to some Tafsirs including that of Ibn Arabi (which is by a student of Ibn Arabi and coined with Ibn Arabi to make it more well known (no one knows his student really except a few people)) the Qurasyh is Mutaqeen.

The term comes from to crush together, bring together, squeeze together. Quraysh is thus those bound together by the Kaba, but what is the purpose of the Kaba?

It's physical is to reflect a ritual that is suppose to mimic truth and show us how to reach the high council and travel to God.

Therefore "the name of God" can be "this house", but a physical house can never be the name of God, so it means family here. This goes well with the verse "(the light of God) In houses/families he permitted to be risen and his name remembered there in. Men who...."

Since I'm feeling generous today, I will translate Ibn Arabi tafsir on this chapter:

لإِيلاَفِ قُرَيْشٍ } * { إِيلاَفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيْفِ } * { فَلْيَعْبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ } * { ٱلَّذِيۤ أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍ }
{ لإيلاف قريش } القوى الروحانية وإيقاع مؤالفتها وموافقتها ومسالمتها في اكتساب الفضائل واتحادها في التوجه نحو الكمال في الرحلتين { رحلة الشتاء } وبعد شمس الروح عن سمت رؤوسهم والأوي إلى غور البدن وترتيب مصالح المعاش وإصلاح أحوال البدن والقيام بضرورياته وعمارته ورحلة صيف قرب تلك الشمس من سمت رؤوسهم والرقيّ إلى أنجاد عالم القدس والتلقي لروح اليقين. { فليعبدوا ربّ هذا البيت } بالتوحيد وتخصيص العبادة به والتوجه نحوه بعد معرفته { الذي أطعمهم } أطعمة المعاني اليقينية والمعارف الحقيقية والحقائق الإلهية { من جوع } داعية الاستعداد وتقاضي الفطرة في سنة الجهل البسيط { وآمنهم من خوف } استيلاء حبشة القوى النفسانية وتخطفهم إياهم ومنعهم عن الانقياد والسعي في تخريب الديار والأسر عن الاختيار والاستئصال بالدمار والبوار والله الموفق. والسورتان كانتا في مصحف أبيّ سورة واحدة وبعض كبار الصحابة قرأهما في ثانية المغرب معاً والسلام.

"unity of Quraysh" with the spiritual power and the rhythm of their harmony, agreement and peace in acquiring the virtues and their unity in the direction towards perfection in the two journeys {the winter journey} and after the sun of the soul from the height of their heads and the shelters to the depths of the body, arranging the interests of the pension, reforming the conditions of the body, carrying out its necessities and building, and a summer trip near that sun from its zenith their heads and rise to the salvation of the world of holiness and receive the spirit of certainty. {Let them worship the Lord of this House, by monotheism, dedicating worship to Him, and turning towards Him after knowing Him, who fed them, the foods of certain meanings, true knowledge, and divine truths, from hunger, calling for readiness and the pursuit of instinct in the year of simple ignorance, and secured them from fear} the seizure of the psychic powers by Habysha and kidnapping them and preventing them from Docile and seek to destroy homes and families for choice and eradication with destruction and ruin, and God bless. And the two surahs were in the Mushaf of Ubayy, one surah, and some of the great companions recited them in the second of Maghrib together and peace.

By the name of God, the (universally) Compassionate, The (extremely) Compassionate; for the unity of the Togetherness; Is their unity in the travels in the winter and summer. So let them Worship the Lord of this household. The one who fed them from hunger and gave them security from fear.

It can be it means this:

For the unity of the Togetherness (Mutaqeen true protectors of the Kaba) that by the name of God is their unity in the travels in the winter and summer. So let them Worship the Lord of this household....

So it would mean their unity occurs through the name of God and so let them worship the Lord of this household which is the name of God.
