Starting with Col 1.15 could you walk me through the surrounding passages with the thrust of why Paul is saying what he is saying as to why you reach that conclusion?

Paul is simply stating the magnificent nature of Jesus Christ in relation to why Jesus is worthy of being the one thru whom God uses to save mankind.

Jesus was not chosen to be the savior of the world because he was a good human. It was because he was the most highest of all Gods creations. The 'firstborn' of Gods creations. The one that assisted God in the creation of all other things.

The context of the letter is simply to encourage the congregation on colossea of Jesus role in Gods purposes.
