When sending quantum particles between two prisms most of the particles were reflected within the first prism but some managed to tunnel through the gap into the other prism. This phenomenon can occur with consciousness but that is another story. The reason there have been almost no known applications with sending information at faster-than-light speeds is because the ability to send information only occurs over short distances.

This is well known for light and is a classical result in that case. It has nothing to do with consciousness or anything outside of wave theory.
